Republicans nominated 10 justices in a row between 1969 and 1991
And 12 of the last 15. If people want to know why the court has shifted to the right, that's the reason.

7. Well, there were only 4 years of a dem Presidency during that period
The 4 years of Carter. So unless the court lost a justice during that 4 year period, a Republican would have had the nomination. That really had no bearing of if a Dem or a Repub nomination. They did reject a few people. Nixon had 2 nominees rejected, and Reagan had 1 nominee rejected (Robert Bork). 1 nominee was withdrawn under Reagan and 1 under W Bush. So they haven't been completely spineless in their support for nominees. And the Clarence Thomas nomination was tough to get through. The final vote on Thomas was 52-48.

11. No
with the collusion of the Democrats in Congress. Just like today. With many of the Democrats in Congress today, there is almost sadly no need for Republicans.

2. Soon 4 out of 9 will be Clinton & Obama appointees.
Do you think their selections have had anything to do with this shift to the right?

6. Ruth Bader Ginsberg isn't a liberal? Ok.
I don't know what their personal proclivities are, but they all vote together in a liberal bloc reliably.

9. There was only 4 years in that time period when there was a Dem President
And Carter didn't get any Supreme Court nominations. The dems did reject Robert Bork, and made things extremely difficult for Clarence Thomas, his vote was 52-48 for confirmation.

19. Bork was doomed the moment he was named.
There was no way the guy who did his master's bidding and was the only man left standing after the Saturday night massacre was ever going to get a seat on the high court.
