16. Sure, but why is it "too late"?
I mean I don't know how she felt before, if she changed her mind. But aren't we trying to persuade more people to support equality? If we say "Too late!" to everyone who changes their mind from being against to being for, we'll never progress.

21. If Shrub himself announced it that would be news.
But we already knew about her being pro-choice and I don't think Laura saying she supports marriage equality is going to affect Shrub's reputation.

'Course, he hasn't been in power for over a year now, haven't had to see his mug on TV or hear his voice or watch him destroy something since then...so it could be my cynicism wearing off! Bah.

22. well if it was your neighbor I'd agree with you
But she was once the 1st lady. More important she was the first lady for a party that is the prime obstacle to these type of laws. Even worse before the 2004 election both Bushes in an interview said they supported this. Then did nothing for the next 4 years to make this happen. Oh it's nice when those around you change their mind. But for people in power to do nothing when in power and then years later do clean up their image and make social niceties, it's not acceptable. When she had the power to really make a difference she did nothing. That is why it is too late.

9. Laura married into the wrong family. I think she could have been normal had she not married W.
But then, she was actually attracted to W to begin with. Yuck.

13. Heh, right? I found this part quite interesting:
Asked about the pairing of Bush and Wolfman, Hazelhurst explained, "They were very good friends...." At that point, his wife broke into the line, chiding, "Roy, Roy." After she ascertained that the caller was a reporter, she ended the conversation: "I'm sorry, we cannot answer any of your questions."

The father of the nonbride wasn't talking, either. "I don't give out any information on George Bush," he snapped, before slamming down the phone.

17. It did not make a splash but when bush was first
nominated Laura Bush went on talk shows and said she was for this and for abortion. There was an up roar from the right especially the religious right and she never appeared on the TV talk shows again.

I think the GOP cut her off. That was the most honest interview she ever gave. And she told her views. I think George W. agreed but he couldn't say so because he wanted the religious Rights votes. It just goes to show how two faced the republicans are. The subvert their feelings and views just to get votes.

18. Welcome to the real world Mrs Bush.
I actually like Laura until she starts espousing her husbands politics. Then I can't stand her. This is the first political thing I heard from her that hasn't made me want to gag. Good for her!
