Do NOT raise the liability cap for oil companies!
Eliminate it! Why should there be a cap? They should be liable to expend every dime of their worth if they cause one of these disasters. Every dime! So they go broke, big fucking deal. They took on the gamble it would not happen. I own some BP stock, and I don't care if it goes worthless. You break it, you fix it!

5. Agreed.
They abuse the Earth, devastate wildlife and protected species, put small businesses out of business, pay themselves obscene salaries with perverse benefits, and make those they harm wait for anything in the form of restitution.

I saw images last week of Alaska in the area of the Exxon Valdez disaster, and the area IS STILL A MESS! Exxon got away with murder, literally. And the people who were harmed by the incident in some cases DIED before seeing a penny from Exxon. That's BULLSHIT, and it should absolutely not be permitted.

No limits. They pay for 100% of the damage, 100% to restore EVERYTHING back to the way it was (or better than) before the accident.

And...make it illegal to raise prices to cover the cost, or taxpayers (consumers) will pay for it anyway. The funds need to come out of their PROFITS, EXECUTIVE SALARIES, etc.

8. As individuals
each and every one of us is required to right our wrongs. No one helps us beyond (if we're lucky) the insurance we've paid for. Why should these large corps be treated any better?

9. The costs are passed onto the consumer
Drilling for oil comes with an inherent risk of disaster, if they're totally liable in worst case scenarios economic logic would dictate the costs would be passed down to the consumer. Just a point worth taking into consideration, I'm not making an argument.
