stupid, cruel Afghani men strike again

http://english.aljazeera.net/news/asia/2010/05/20105124959408607.html

'Gas attack' targets Afghan girls

At least 30 students at a girls' school in northern Afghanistan have been hospitalised after a suspected poisonous gas attack.

Health officials in Kunduz province said the girls were admitted to hospital on Tuesday after vomiting and losing consciousness.

"Others are also coming in. We don't know the exact number of girls affected, it could be many," Homayun Khamosh, the head of the Kunduz city hospital, said.

He said the mass sickening resembled several other suspected gas attacks last week at girls' schools in Kunduz and in Kabul, the Afghan capital.

-snip-

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident on Tuesday, but the government has blamed the suspected attacks on fighters opposed to female education.

Taliban denial

-snip-

In parts of southern and eastern Afghanistan, particularly in Taliban strongholds, schools for girls still remain closed.

But the Taliban has denied any involvement in the recent spate of suspected attacks, and has condemned the targeting of school girls.

1. Not all Afghan men are such misogynists.
It is the enduring legacy of the Taliban and a thuggish interpretation of Sharia law.

6. May their dicks turn green and then black and drop off into puddles
of putrefaction. May they live long, unprosperous, miserable lives. May their next incarnations be those of every woman they have wronged. May they repeat those lives over and over and over again until they get the point.

At the end, may they turn out to be evolved human beings. Until then, may they be caught and put into cages so they can't hurt any more little girls.

(Don't tell me I don't know how to cuss a cowardly man who attacks girl children)

You don't give a fuck either way. You only care when its the Taliban killing, and you give it a free pass if its a drone your tax money paid for. Just fucking admit it already.

Why don't you go help them shove them into gas chambers? Leave it all up to you and there will be more New Yorkers falling from the sky in flames. I have friends who will live for the rest of their lives with the horror of watching them fall. You don't seem to care about that but I do.

Just as its ok to some that 3000 died in the world trade center because they didn't distance themselves from the United States. Yes...its the exact same mindset you share.

No. Its not OK to me actually about the girls (thats a straw man, and I never made excuses about it, as you did). But I don't think that further destabilizing a region produces a better world. This stuff wasn't commonplace before we really involved ourselves in the region. Now, its chaos abound.

You seem to believe you know a lot about a lot of things. Oh I see, you're from Canada. Al Qaeda didn't attack your country, did it? Guess the people in the World Trade Center got what was coming, huh? No skin off your nose, that's what those arrogant Americans get.

You are correct, I have employed a straw man. But I didn't think this would elicit whining from you, since it is you who first employed the fallacy, and blatantly so. I had hoped you would have gotten the point by getting a taste of your own medicine but I see you have failed to meet my low expectations.

27. Do you think we should invade countries to stop female genital mutilation?
That atrocity happens to millions of girls every year. I got a long list of places to send the US Army - just say that you agree that we have a right and duty to use force to stamp out violent misogyny.

PS: we'll be looking the other way on misogynist violence in Afghanistan and Iraq, unless there's propaganda value to be mined from the headlines. The reasons we are invading and occupying these countries has nothing to do with women's rights. Never did have anything to do with it, and never will. And our local allies will be the offenders we look the other way for, as we did in the case of Iraqi ethnic cleansing, and as we do now for Afghani heroin trafficking. We'll have to look the other way as soon as we can manage to stamp out those darned insurgent elements. Until then, though, we'll just pretend everything bad that the U.S. witnesses or countenances is their fault.

But we got into Afghanistan for a good reason. We are there, and we are in a good position to punish these monsters who are plotting our demise.

One of our biggest problems is that we have been trying to be the police force for all the world. Gut just because we can't do everything it doesn't mean we should do nothing. Don't you agree?

Edited on Wed May-12-10 11:07 AM by NJmaverick
to have them turn over Al Qaeda's leaders. With the threat of invasion there was a good chance they may have complied and if it failed the US would have had much better justification for military actions (in others words it would show the US engaged in war as a last resort, rather than a first choice). If the negotiations broke down I would have preferred they sent a military expedition to go in grab the Al Qaeda leaders and then leave.

Oh wait I forgot I wasn't suppose to provide a thoughtful and intelligent answer. I was suppose to let your false characterization stand unchallenged. Well sorry spoony I am not going to join in or aid your hate crusade. While I doubt you will answer this what was your solution to the Al Qaeda problem after 9/11?

12. The Taliban's denial could be a good sign.

When we leave I expect the Taliban will, at the very least, end up sharing power. In the past they bragged about these sorts of attacks. Their current denial may be nothing more than a ploy. Or it may be a sign that they are willing to compromise and lay off their worst abuses.

Bad as it is disallowing educated women, it is a far cry better than stoning educated women.

15. The Taliban is struggling as witnessed by their change from insurgent tactics
where they challenged and fought military units to terrorists tactics which can be carried out by much weaker groups but causes the loss of popular support. In the end I suspect the less radical elements of the Taliban will be part of the government, but I am hopeful their worse influences will never return.

17. Men like this are on ALL sides of the Afghan conflict - Taliban, Northern Alliance, warlords et al.
Edited on Wed May-12-10 11:16 AM by kenny blankenship
anyone tells you different is either willfully ignorant or deliberately lying to you. Notice that this attack did not occur in a Taliban held area, but in the north.

If you want to stay in Afghanistan, for whatever fucked up reasons you may have been led to believe are a valid casus belli, you are going to have to make your peace with the predominance of a violently misogynist Afghan culture. You are going to have to make your peace with a heroin trafficking culture. Trying to change the indigenous culture will multiply the enemies of America in that country, and in the region, and will multiply the numbers of people itching to shoot at American troops. A successful occupier/colonizer who wants to stay and "achieve his long term goals" will do as little as possible to create friction with the customs of the subject nation, no matter how "barbaric" they seem. That's Empire 101. Your leaders are well versed in this lore, and in time and with your continued acquiescence, they will make you as ruthless as they are. A few of you are already there and can say anything and believe anything to justify your support for permawar and empire.

Do the rest of you really want to be giving arms, ammunition and military training to such people? Well as it stands right now, that's exactly what your country's Afghan policy is doing, with both parties in full agreement.

It's something of a front in the last few months.

Not to downplay the rest of your post, which makes good points. I would only caution against broadbrushing Afghans, especially the younger generation. It runs the risk of sounding like you feel they're incorrigible savages, which they certainly are not. Their "customs," as you put it, in the last few decades have been shaped by war and poverty, which is where zealotry usually finds hold.
