Oiled up & on the beach at Dauphin Island
Edited on Wed May-12-10 07:55 PM by SoCalDem
When I saw this, it reminded me of seeing people sunbathing on the beach in Thailand after the tsunami...as people picked through the rubble a few feet away, looking for bodies..

I guess if you are "on vacation"..dammit, nothing else matters :(

Containment

Beach goers sunbathe behind a wall of hay bales, used to absorb any oil that might come ashore, on Dauphin Island, Alabama.

2. I get really pissed when I come home from the beach with tar on my feet...
I would go postal if I saw gallons of oil...

I go here every weekend...

You can see the oil derricks offshore... it's painful...

3. When I was growing up in Southern California
We used to spend LOTS of time at the beach. And I was recently thinking about this, how there were certain beaches where you'd get this black "tar" all over your feet when you walked barefoot there. I just took that as a normal part of what happens at some beaches, never thinking that it might have been residue from some oil accidents. I still don't know.

But now I really wonder.

4. Yep...

Samples have been sent for testing to see whether the massive
oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was to blame for their deaths.
