4. Good point! Yep, why add to the problem... that is such a good retort to
the anti-gov. crowd. Why be part of the problem!

3. And that's why you're a liberal. Because no conservative
can understand that people who hate government make bad governors.

7. Never ceases to amaze me, the hypocrisy of that gang.
They bag on government and how evil it is, as they do everything they can to make careers in it.

Dopes.

12. ...and the people who vote for them

"I'm voting for the guy who says 'government can't do anything right' because that's such an effective approach to the job"

These people would vote for a dog catcher who ran on the platform of "Nobody can catch dogs!"

It's a mystery these people manage to feed themselves.

9. I wouldn't want the government to be....
...any bigger than it has to be. Bloated governments, like bloated corporations, are damned inefficient. At the same time, I don't want it to be any smaller than it has to be, either.

...another strike against big government. They tend to expand their will beyond their borders as they grow.

13. Yeah, it's, like, "Marry me! I really don't believe in relationships!"
or "Let me be your doctor! I don't think any good can come from the practice of medicine!"
or "Can I fix your car? I fuckin hate cars!"

14. Not everything reminds me of Monty Python, but this does.
Edited on Thu May-13-10 02:11 AM by Cresent City Kid
There was a classic scene in Life of Brian where one of the Jewish rebels goes on an anti-Roman rant. "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

After the other rebels tick off a few things the Romans have done, he rephrases the question.
"Apart from the the aqueducts, the roads, sanitation, wine, education, medicine, and public order, what have the Romans ever done for us?"

The attacks on the government are a thinly veiled attempt to game a system, that has already been rigged to the advantage of those born with advantages. Corporations, more specifically the leaders of them who profit the most personally, have us by the short and curlies. With that not being enough, they are going for the balls, by turning a good portion of the voting populace into anti-government nuts.

Growing up, I never thought of America and the government as two different things. Sure the government was full of racists and war mongers, but so was the country. Changes for the better came from within the government. At age 15 when Reagan was elected, I could see through the shallow lie. When he spoke to Americans, I had to substitute "corporation" for "you" to have his speeches make sense. Even when he was the government, taking food off my mother's table and my Pell grant and giving to rich people, I didn't oppose the concept of government, I opposed his line of bullshit.

I used to have the album before Katrina, and could quote it word for word. I knew I was butchering it, but I think I managed to get the point across.

That was a nice piece, awesome job!
