The "yes/no" answer to the Could Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Possibly Be a BIGGER Asshole question
Facebook CEO Allegedly Mocked Users For Sharing Personal Data With Him At Harvard

Business Insider has posted the transcript of an instant message conversation that allegedly took place between Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and a "college friend" while Zuckerberg was still at Harvard.

Although its authenticity has not been confirmed, the IM conversation is likely to do little to allay growing concerns over Facebook's privacy policies.

"SAI sources" say that the exchange was "between a 19-year-old Mark Zuckerberg and a friend shortly after Mark launched The Facebook in his dorm room."

In the electronic back-and-forth, Zuckerberg allegedly told his friend "if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard <...> just ask" and called users who had shared information with him "dumb f--ks."

1. Anyone who uses Facebook and expects ANY kind of privacy whatsoever IS a dumbfuck.
And I'm saying that as someone who does use Facebook.

4. A good friend of mine put it into proper perspective (for me, at least)...
...she is a real estate agent and we were discussing "social media," because I was going to be giving a talk on the subject at a local Chamber of Commerce.

"I don't care one way or another," she said. "But I want people to be able to find me wherever they are looking for me."

So I'm on Facebook too, as a necessary evil, because just like my friend, I need to be found.

Doesn't mean I don't hate it or consider it to be childish bullshit...I do.

5. Facebook for me is a convenient social filter
There are lots of people in my life that I don't mind knowing and staying in some loose contact with, but don't wish to advance to the next plane of social interaction.

I don't want these people to have my phone number or email address. Facebook wall posting is as far as I want to take my relationship with them.

It's convenient.

2. Is he wandering the countryside forcing people to sign up at gunpoint?
Newsflash- Putting information about oneself on the internet is not the best way to insure one's privacy.

6. Trouble is, FB keeps changing the privacy policy
and every time it makes more public by default and makes it more difficult to change it back. (Not that *I'd* put any personal info there anyway.....)

9. Valid point, and this guy is a fucking asshole...valid point #2
It's the old "lie down with dogs, get up with fleas" principle.

Whatever Facebook "should" or "should not" be or whatever people "should" or "should not" know before lying down with this dog, one thing is clear.

He's a fucking dog. Here's hoping Karma raps his fucking snout with a rolled-up newspaper.

8. Do what I do. Misleading or false information.
People that know me know what's real. The ones that don't, who cares. And let FB use that information for what good it does them.
