Anti-Smoking Vaccine Could Help Addicts Quit

Researchers Looking Into Vaccines For Cocaine, Meth.

DENVER -- What if you could get a shot to quit smoking?

A new vaccine that might make people immune to cigarettes is being tested in Denver, and previous clinical trials have been promising.

The vaccine is called NicVAX, and it is made by Nabi Biopharmaceuticals out of Rockville, Md.

"Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that smoking is bad for you, but knowing that and being able to quit are two entirely different things," said Rosenberg. "The pre-clinical and clinical trials did show that it is helpful to use this vaccine as far as improving people's chances of quitting smoking."

Your vagina will burst into flames (unless you're a guy in which case you'll GROW one which will then burst into flame).

Your fully grown children will develop autism (even if you're the one getting vaccinated and they live three states over).

Your dog will get abducted by aliens!

On the other hand it pits "big pharma" against "the tobacco industry." That could be fun.
