It's put up or shut up time in NJ.
About 25 representatives from community activist groups gathered at the State House this morning to promote a “massive” May 22 Trenton rally against Gov. Chris Christie’s proposed budget cuts.
“Gov. Christie claims this is a budget of shared sacrifice, but it is not. While there is pain and sacrifice for some, it is not shared,” said Ev Liebman, program director for New Jersey Citizen Action. “The governor’s insistence on not reinstating the millionaires’ tax and gifting a billion dollar tax break to the state’s wealthiest is not shared sacrifice and not what all of New Jersey needs or wants.”
Organizers say the rally, spearheaded by the state’s major teachers and public workers unions, has so far been endorsed by 48 community advocacy groups and will attract tens of thousands of people to Trenton. They say it will be the biggest rally in State House history.
