There's a reason we need to keep reminding people about George W. Bush
The other day, Rep. Ed Markey made the following mundane but true observation:

For years, the Bush administration's oil strategy placed the granting of drilling leases ahead of safety review.

This irked Neil Cavuto no end:

Ipso-facto — Bush to blame for the big leak-o.

Just like he's apparently behind that big thousand-point swing-o.

Just like he's to blame for the unemployment rate that's higher than when he left office, and the deficits that are much higher than any year he was in office.

All problems, all Bush, all the time — probably until the end of time.

Cavuto wants a "statute of limitations" on blaming Bush. "Just give it a break," he pleaded.

Nuh-uh.

It's true that the miseries we're currently enduring are not merely the fault of the sole personage of George W. Bush, the man now widely viewed by conservatives as The Man Who Betrayed Conservative Values. He had lots and lots of help. In fact, he had millions of little helpers -- all those movement conservatives who now want to pretend that he wasn't a real conservative.

This is because, in reality, Bush is The Man Who Nearly Destroyed the American Economy.

3. Bullsh*t
Bush/Cheney and their team of criminals have done damage that will be felt decades into the future...if not more...if the planet and humanity survives it as our fate is still in question :(

5. Bush and the Republican Party are one.
The current Republicans in Congress, and all of the ones running for Congress in 2010 are Bush, and he is them.

7. Bush was a one trick pony.

He played fast and loose with the Constitution and didn't watch over the country as much as he should have. He was pretty much a one issue president and that was the war(s).

He wanted Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac audited and there was plenty of congressional opposition to that. The government pushed the housing bubble as much as anyone, for the tax money.

The problem is that the laws didn't progress with the times. There was a very similar explosion in the Gulf in 1979 for nearly identical reasons. Between the time of that explosion and Deepwater Horizon, a lot of people dropped the ball. There are a lot of guilty bastards who want everyone to keep blaming Bush.

If it weren't for this latest disaster, they'd still be sweeping the violations under the rug and raking in the royalties.

It's the system and it keeps biting us in the ass. "You can have it fast, or you can have it right". Our congressional leaders will earmark or assign any revenue as fast as it shows up and be knocking on the door five minutes later.

Obama's having to deal with the Gulf, in the same manner Bush had to deal with 9/11. It has pushed his agenda back and distracted the country from what he trying to get them to do.

Once again, everything goes on the back burner until the kitchen fire gets put out.

8. The RWingnuts were blaming Jimmy Carter for Smirky's epic clusterfuck.

When the corrupt and evil BushCo Regime was in power.

So I don't want to hear any "no fair" whining from Cavuto.

9. Conservative ideology failed, not just George W. Bush.
Edited on Sat May-15-10 11:34 PM by Marr
His Conservative support was incredibly reliable, in fact. There were really only a couple of times they didn't support him-- and they were relatively minor issues, late in his term.

They cheered him on so fervently specifically because he was so effective at moving their agenda. And now they want to pretend that he wasn't a real Conservative at all. It's actually pretty funny.
