BP's PROFIT 1st quarter of 2010 = $6.1 BILLION!!! No worries about not being able to pay

for cleanup-or about lawsuits, either...
The number is per CNN on Sunday AM.

Nearly 25 BILLION DOLLARS PROFIT this year!!!

And this is just BP alone...

all reasonable claims. Thanks for posting their ability to do so which seeme , for whatever reason , to be in doubt elsewhere on DU.

BTW - profit doesn't equal cash but never mind.

besides, if this kills the Gulf of Mexico, which sadly now seems likely, you cannon put a dollar amount on a crime of that scale.

Sieze their assets. Indict their executives. Now.

...are you suggesting our previous sins should absolve BP? Sorry if I'm being dense. The point of your first post was that BP will pay. Why do you think that?

and personally I believe them - you may not. Having said that - first sign of any Micky Mouse / typical USA unsubstantiated puntative damages claims I think they will walk and let the legal process take its course over , with appeals, over what may turn out to be a very long period of time. That's why they've used the legal term "reasonable"

I actually used the comparison of values of human life and quoted those examples as convenient illustrations. I suppose I could've used Bophal which may have been more appropriate.
