Don't Wanna Be an American Idiot.....
Darwin's Nightmare :scared: :dunce:

A San Antonio woman went from the back of an ambulance to the back of a police cruiser moments after being rescued at a Northeast Side water crossing on a rain-drenched Friday afternoon.

Lauryn Elsik, 22, told authorities she ignored a police barricade and drove her Nissan Xterra over a low bridge inundated by a swift-moving current at Old O'Connor and Lookout roads.

In addition to paying more than $1,000 in fines and fees, she was charged with “disobeying a barrier at a low water crossing,” a Class B misdemeanor that carries up to a $2,000 fine and 180 days in jail, police said.

“I thought I was going to die,” Elsik said as she sat handcuffed in the back of the police cruiser. “When you see a barricade, don't think you can make it through the water. Don't make the same mistake I did.”

The incident happened on a day when the city saw 19 high-water rescues as heavy downpours hit San Antonio. The thundershowers caused the closing of 12 water crossings in Bexar County, and halted second-round action at the Valero Texas Open golf tournament for the entire day. ..........(more)

2. Oh, that doesn't apply to me.
See it all the time. Ignore signs and there will likely be trouble. Here in my small city parking is at a premium. There is leased parking behind many of the businesses downtown and that leased parking is often the only perk for the worker bees. How often does some arrogant asshole pull in anyway? It really gets interesting when they come back 5 or 6 hours later to find their vehicle towed, just like the sign they parked in front said would happen. Oh the wailing and gnashing of teeth! It also happens during festivals here. By 8 am there are pylons throughout the streets warning that by 6 pm the streets will be closed to traffic and any remaining parked cars will be towed. We have seen some gloriously high drama involving those who seemed to think this didn't apply to them.

Yeah, lots of very special people in the world who just know signs and barricades don't apply to them, just all these other people.

No shortage of assholes in the world I guess.

4. Same way a lot of accident victims
think they can beat a train when they ignore the warnings at a rail road crossing and "full speed ahead".

5. When you drive an Xterra, you can go anywhere
in any conditions. Those police barricades are for mortal vehicles, not an off-roading vehicle with special powers.

7. Like up the sides of tall buildings...
upside down beneath bridges, through F5 tornadoes, and to the top of Mt Everest...
