Oklahoma's hail storm was a wow!

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index.php?smp=&lang=eng

This afternoon <16.05.2010> Oklahoma City saw a massive severe thunderstorm. The storm came with damaging hail that just had no mercy on the area. When the hailstorm was over, there were drifts of hail stones that were five feet tall. Unbelievable footage was caught today. Oklahoma had hailstones that were as big as softballs, and they caused massive amounts of damage to cars and homes throughout the area. There are estimates of over 10,000 households who were affected by this storm. There were 21 people who were hurt and 7 people actually had serious injuries. The hail caused some serious car accidents. The area looked as if a snowstorm had hit in May. Not only did the area have to contend with huge hail, there was also some flooding. The areas hit the hardest were Nichols Hills, North Oklahoma City and The Village. Seriously, you just have to see the videos below. The damage is unbelievable. Mother Nature continues to pound us all with crazy weather. You never know what she will bring next. Not only this, but we also have severe storms predicted for Tuesday.

2. Do you have a better link?
Last week a friend (Nichols Hills) sent me pictures of all of the beautiful flowers, trees, pots, etc in his back yard. Today he sent pictures of the complete devastation. His gutters, siding and roof all have hail damage but he is the most upset about the flowers.

It is unbelievable.

5. Big 'uns.
I'm betting that hail stones that size could probably knock a person out.

13. Apparently a guy was jogging around Lake Hefner when the storm came.
He could not find shelter and suffered so many hail hits that he ended up in the emergency room. They showed pictures of his damaged/bruised back on the local news.

6. Probably due to Miss Oklahoma
Has Pat Robertson or any of the other God Squad Nitwits weighed in on why nature seems to be taking a particular dislike to conservative areas lately?

8. wonder how birds and other wildlife fared?

last yr. I read a report of a bad hail storm in another country that killed a snake and a fox that tried to take shelter under a tree.

one time in Vt. I was in the woods during a regular hail storm and took shelter under a thick pine tree and it still hurt when it hit me.

10. Just talked to a friend in OKC.
He was busy picking up dead birds.

His flowers, trees, siding, gutters/downspouts, roof, cars, satellite dish and two windows in his house were destroyed. He has been making phone calls since 7:00am and having trouble getting through to the various insurance companies, etc.

He never lost electricity but was afraid a tornado would come in behind the hail. Fortunately that did not happen.

Remember the storm in the northeast a couple of months ago, or Tennessee a few weeks ago? :wow:
