Everett Bikini Barista Pleads Guilty.
http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2010/05/18/1437040/everett-bikini-barista-pleads.html

EVERETT, Wash. - A Bikini barista who had faced a prostitution charge pleaded guilty Monday in Everett Municipal Court to working without an adult entertainment license and was sentenced to 20 days in jail.

The Daily Herald reports she is allowed to serve her time under home electronic monitoring. Judge Timothy O'Dell also ordered the woman to be fully clothed - no bikini or lingerie - when she works at an espresso stand.

The 21-year-old had been charged with prostitution after detectives photographed her licking whipped cream off another barista.

it WASN'T prostitution, but it WAS simulated sex. both girls had breasts and genitalia exposed. at a drive thru espresso stand.

here's the link to the cop's 'sting' photos, BUT IT GETS EXTREMELY NSFW: http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2010/01/08/your-tax-dollars-hard-at-nsfw

i can see Everett's point (an espresso stand is not a strip club), but i do think the girl got a raw deal. actual jail should be reserved for violent criminals and investment bankers.

7. I saw the pictures. It was a strip joint posing as a coffee stand.
I am sure the folks with strip joints that have liquor licenses were up in arms and threatened to cancel the free admission and drinks for the cops if something wasn't done.

11. Oh wow...
that paints a totally different picture.

But I still wouldn't call it prostitution. And why aren't there any espresso stands like that around here???

18. Prostitution...
"Hey baby, I'll pay you $20 to lick the cream off her $!*%"

Prostitution is defined as sex with another person for money. It doesn't have to be with the person paying you the money.

17. OMG!
As a lifelong tea drinker, I've never given one of those coffee stands a second look. Suddenly, I'm craving a latte...

5. It's called overcharging. What she pled to was probably an
ordinance violation.

Edited on Tue May-18-10 07:42 PM by tammywammy
I worked in the coffee business for years, managed an independent coffee shop as well. Not only that, you spill hot liquid on you all the time, hot water, coffee, milk....

But then I'm sure the customers weren't really worried about their coffee. lol

15. If this was Everett Mass the story would have made more sense.

Who knew such prudery existed in Washington state?

16. well, for example: no liquor in strip clubs
there's plenty of prudery here, but it's wrapped in liberal concern for welfare of the children who might be inadvertantly exposed.

19. Say what you want to about WA state prudery
but at least you can get beer and wine in the grocery stores there. In NY, you cannot buy wine in the supermarket, you can buy neither in grocery markets in NJ.

If you have your frequent shopper card, you can always get a deal on some beer and wine in WA, over on this coast, they pretty much charge full price (and then some) for a decent quaff.

I miss Washington, sniff! :(
