4. Well, already done...
But honestly - do you think this was analagous to South Africa?

Big differences in history - and Rhodesia capitulated first. Granted, this was unavoidable.

6. Yes but unlike Apartheid they allowed for Black Votes as long as they spoke English and had property
Granted, Property for blacks was very hard to find - but some had it

It's a whole different story - considering the UK never recognized Rhodesia - until Rhodesia-Zimbabwe

And that was for about 1 month...

It's interesting as hell - and I am learning about the history now

Lots of nuances there...

Bizarre story...

8. It didn't have the money white South Africa had
and therefore its rule was always more likely to fall. While South Africa could afford to buy whatever it needed in terms of arms, and thus keep its borders secure (and even run a puppet state in Namibia, for some time), Rhodesia was always fighting a guerrilla war on its borders. South Africa was also more strategically placed, so the UK and USA ignored apartheid for a long time because it was militarily useful (the Royal Navy was using Simonstown as a base until 1975). And the South African mines meant there was employment for many black South Africans, who, while they had shitty working and living conditions, still had jobs which they had to weigh against a full-scale rebellion.

But both were ex-British colonies ruled by a white minority who thought the black population weren't competent to run a country, and kept them down by force. So, yes, many similarities.

9. Simple difference -- Rhodesia went down hard, SA went down soft

10. Perhaps - but there were big differences
Yes, they both were minority rule states. Fascist in ideology.

And both negotiated the peace treaty.

------------------

But here's an example of the difference: Rhodesia had TV as early as 65. SA had a Government edict that prevented TV from being established. This was not changed until 75.

HOWEVER, Rhodesia had Ian Smith - who started the government of Rhodesia independent of the UK. Just like, as they say, the United States did. Of course Rhodesia declared independence for White Rule, the US did it over Taxation without Representation. Whites already ruled, and there was no sign of that changing.

------------------

Like I said - different circumstances. Some the same, but so many different.

Really interesting story though...
