KENTUCKY PAINTS OVER SHEPARD FAIREY MURAL!

A new Shepard Fairey mural in Covington was painted over Thursday morning because of objections to its dominant image, a child soldier carrying an automatic weapon.

By noon today, the Fairey mural titled “Duality of Humanity 4 Pike Street Mural,” which he completed Tuesday on the front wall of the audio-visual company MAC Productions at 242 W. Pike St., had been covered over by white paint.

Michael A. Claypool, who owns the building and the business, said Thursday about the mural, “We had no clue what they were going to put up. When it went up, we were the first to think it was offensive.”

He added that he heard from administrators at the John G. Carlisle School across the street and other neighbors who took issue with the artwork.

3. I think I'll let that business owner know what I think about his censorship
since he's so concerned about who he might offend.

6. As murals go, it was pretty cool looking.
I'm not always a fan of murals. Living in SF made me sick of them. But this one was well done, IMHO.

7. the owner ordered it, long as he paid up he can paint over if he wants. no big deal and no
censorship really. nice PR stunt for the "artist" however, will generate tons of business so it is not likely the artist is all that sad about it.
