How to instantly kill Rand Paul's campaign
Media: "Do you believe the government has the right to intervene in marriages?"

Paul: "I don't get what you're saying."

Media: "Do you support same-sex marriages?"

Cue death knell. It would sound either way.

"Dr. Paul, do you or have you ever lived in a Whites-only community?"

24. He is an ophthamologist, an M.D., not an optometrist...
He is also a member of the Lucky Sperm Club, as far as I'm concerned...

That one is going to be fascinating.

13. And there is nothing prohibiting the Fed from doing so.
Already adjudicated.

Nothing in the Constitution about having an Air Force, either.

Next talking point.

19. Neither do you, if you think either Rand is a libertarian.
They are corporate apologists, and anyone fooled by them lacks critical thinking skills.

23. And you'd believe abortion should be legal on demand, any time,
for any reason. Also you'd believe in legalizing recreational drugs, eliminating Social Security and Medicare, eliminating child labor laws, repealing the income tax, and not inspecting meat. If you were a REAL libertarian.

27. You do not understand THE POINT. Libertarian v. Republican
ideals are often at odds and would be easy to exploit to peel of some Republican votes from idiot Rand.

Sooner or later he'll have to show his face. I guess they're going to try to prep him in the meantime. You know, like they did with Caribou Barbie.

I'm certain that he does.

That should do him in as well.

26. Yeah I think the Republic-con stuff v Libertarian crap is what will sink him
Cuz face it Republicans don't care if the guy's a moron, they love Boosh and Sarahcuda. But if he doesn't spout the Republi-CON line about everything (war on terra, war on drugs, same sex marriage) they will cool off to him.

28. Just shine some light on this mysterious thing called Libertarianism.
Edited on Sat May-22-10 12:08 PM by Catshrink
once people understand what it would mean to have that fantasy fulfilled - bad roads, no schools, no "free" fire & police protection, etc. - they back away.

on edit: I forgot take away medicare and social security.

30. Or just force every american to read "Atlas Shrugged." There'sd be a helluva lot fewer
Ayn Rand fans and big and little L L/libertarians if all those who claim they are actually read that gawdawful waste of paper. I had to read a load of fiction for my major, but only to made me want to throw them against the wall. One was Atlas Shrugged and the other (not kidding) was The Celestine Prophecy.

And that was in the same semester. It's amazing I survived with a love of reading.

29. While for the vast majority of Americans
the things that the 1964 Civil Rights Act was trying to deal with are merely either a distant memory, or something in a dusty history book, you've hit upon the modern-day parallel to it: gay rights.

There have got to be a lot of folks out in red state America who are saying, "Well, if the US Government could force businesses in 1964 to serve to anyone who walked in regardless of color, they can sure do the same thing with sexual preference, too, and I don't want that."

(Note: I know it's supposed to be sexual 'orientation' and not 'preference', but I'm talking about the people who would respond positively to a Rand Paul speech here, and that's the level they're still functioning on.)
