Is anybody surpised that BP has moved back the "Top Kill" date?
Edited on Sat May-22-10 12:42 PM by Cetacea
The first attempt, "Top Hat" (how cute!) was set up for a weekend. Consequently many headlines and other news stories reported how near a fix was.
With "Top Kill" (i.e, this time we mean business!) a good amount of reporting was spent on the new fix. Now that is has been moved to the middle of next week, we can expect more "fix coming soon" space wasting reports.
And why bring in the govmint when a fix is around the corner?

1. Hey man, they're getting 5,000 barrels out of this a day!
And with no real pressure from Washington to shut it down or else, why should they stop raking in the dough?

We all know they're not going to actually pay for the clean-up anyways. Exxon never did.

3. The equipment is already on site.
Gulf oil spill: 'Top kill' effort to seal well delayed until at least Tuesday
May 21, 2010 | 2:09 pm

Officials of oil giant BP said Friday that it will likely be at least Tuesday before engineers can attempt to plug the blown-out wellhead in the Gulf of Mexico by shooting heavy fluids into it.

Three ultra-deepwater rigs and other equipment are at the site where the Deepwater Horizon oil platform exploded April 20. They're preparing for a delicate procedure called a “top kill” that BP hopes will stop the flow of oil from the well.

5. Next up: "Bavarian Chocolate Cake Fix"
What with all of the pending "fixes" the government doesn't have to do anything drastic. I believe they are delaying this one to prevent Obama from stepping things up a few notches.

8. It is now a game
The people are demanding results and Obama is getting pressured to do something.

So he leans on BP and BP plays its game and says, no, we are in control, we will do as we have always done, "whatever we want".

All the while Obama looks worse and worse which benefits Cheney rather well.

So..... Obama really has no choice but to bash BP. And he will, as soon as he knows he can do it and not turn Cheney against him any harder.
