HI-01 Predictions? Polls close at 6pm local time, midnight eastern
Here is the background for those not in the know:

HONOLULU — A congressional seat in President Barack Obama's hometown is up for grabs in a special election Saturday.
Republicans believe they are on the cusp of taking control of a district that has been controlled by Democrats for two decades.
Republican Charles Djou (duh-JOO') is favored to win the seat, and a victory would be an embarrassment to Democrats locally and nationally given that Obama was born in the district and spent most of his childhood here.

I predict
Djou - 45%
Case - 29%
Hanabusa - 23%
Others - 3%

I also predict 100% of birthers will go nuts when they have to hear this district referred to as "President Barack Obama's hometown" for the next few days.

1. Predictions? A lot of finger pointing and abdication of responsibility.
One of these two could have done the statesmanlike thing and stepped aside for the good of the party and the country.

I waited and waited and waited and waited for one of them --I don't really care who--to do that. And alas it is now election day and neither one of them has seen fit to do that.

2. Yup. Their egos are much more important to them than keeping this seat in Dem hands.
All too common in politics.

3. It's really the fault of Hawaii's crappy election system
You can't reasonably expect two politicians with a reasonable chance of winning something to step aside for the good of the party and let the other guy have the seat. That's why we have primaries, so that the party can pick a candidate and get behind that candidate. The fact that there is a first past the post system for special elections is ridiculous. And Hanabusa or Case will probably beat Djou in November, it will just cost more money.
