Pardon Me, But... I Will NOT "Get Used" To This Fucking Oil Spill !!!
Or any other gigantic, preventable, non-accidental, human-made, environmental catastrophe (fuck-up).

And I'd suggest that those who are convinced that they CAN "get used" to the fallout from this mess, go down to the area and make a pre-spill priced offer on some property down there, and move in.

After all, you'll get used to it, right???

:wtf:

1. Interestingly that is one of the method of corruption.
The idea to subjugate a population is to get them used to some level of control, then do more.

So your concept fits into a bigger picture of things like security state or Oligarchy.

It also fits the spiral, and the slide where people compromise more and more until they have nothing left of soul.

Yoda's comment.

Remember, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Luke... Luke... do not... do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor or suffer your father's fate you will.

Also the concept of domination spoken of in other posts.

7. It also fits the concept of Triangulation.
Interesting, isn't it? Too bad we are triangulating towards Fascism and not Social Democracy.

2. Sure you will
BP will do everything it can possibly due to stop the oil spill in such a way that they can somehow pump oil normally from it in the future.

Why? Because the Macondo Prospect oil field might contain 50,000,000 barrels of oil...at $70/barrel, and drilling that well cost millions when BP was leasing the Deepwater Horizon for $500k per day.

So don't expect it to be cut off anytime soon with any of the more drastic measures that have been proposed.

Not that the oil is automatically destined for usage in the US.

It's funny how no mention was made of the COLOSSAL Disaster it will be if it cannot be fixed by then.

So many shills on this Board posing as Progressives, cooing at us to be "logical", "reasonable", and "non-hysterical", and "have the proper perspective."

Although there is much outrage and anger over what has happened, I think the one think that gets casually ignored by these gatekeepers is that WE KNOW this will not be fixed by a "Magic Wand".

We KNOW this is unprecedented and something we have not faced previously.

We KNOW that we need to keep things "in perspective."

What we DO NOT need is the lying, deception, and cover-up.

We DO NOT need Corporate Interest to Trump HUMANITY itself.

We DO NOT need a lack of accountability.

And we certainly don't need to be told to essentially "Lie Back and Accept it."

Fuck That.

And respectfully, to those who feel that way.....

FUCK YOU.

Edited on Sun May-23-10 09:01 PM by davidthegnome
I've been waiting for someone to say that. Hasn't he himself said this once or twice? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he said the buck stops with him. Time to put an end to offshore drilling once and for all. Period. Gas prices will go up to 10 bucks a gallon or more (wild guess, probably more) but let's see how long it takes us in that case to start developing and using alternate sources. The oil companies would fade into the history of shit and deep shit where they belong and the world would be a better place.

Of course, it's probably not going to happen, but I can dream.

(edited for spelling. Oops.)

I find myself infuriated by the media that keeps calling it a 'spill'.

Chernobyl didn't 'spill' radiation
Mt St Helens didn't 'spill' lava
Union Carbide didn't 'spill' in Bhopal.......

23. You'd better get used to the idea that it won't be stopped before September
because stopping it before then will be the greatest engineering achievement in human history, greater even than the moon landing.

The time to have stopped it was years ago when the idea of deep water drilling was originally floated, but nobody wanted to think about potential disasters then.

27. Now, now it'll soon be over. Don't struggle and don't cry out it may upset them.
Try to enjoy it and think of that special someone. You'll get through it, just don't rock the boat and you'll probably live to recover. Don't cry out, it'll soon be over.

I think we heard you already.

Perhaps you should get used to many and likely increasing numbers not getting used to it and being heard.

Edited on Sun May-23-10 09:32 PM by WillyT
It really doesn't matter POLITICALLY what the technology says can or cannot be done. And although I'm not exactly sure of the best moves for the Administration now, being timid and esoteric is a recipe for a one term presidency.

He needs to kick somebody's ass, and verify/sypathize in anger with those about to get totally fucked.

It's not time to be Mr. Spock, a little McCoy is in order here.

39. This IS the time for anger, and for that anger to be channeled to force change.
If they are able to diffuse our anger, then the willpower to mobilize to demand change withers and dies.

And YES, that is what they will be trying to do.
