Boston Properties drops bid for 1 WTC
The company's decision to withdraw leaves only The Durst Organization and Related Cos. competing for a portion of the 2.6 million-square-foot Ground Zero building.

By Theresa Agovino

Boston Properties Inc. withdrew from the bidding to buy a stake in One World Trade Center, leaving only two companies vying to invest, the property's owner confirmed Monday.

The Durst Organization and Related Cos. are competing to own a portion of the 2.6-million-square-foot building at Ground Zero owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and slated to open in 2013. The Port has said it is seeking $100 million from a developer who will help market and lease the building. A decision is expected next month.

There are already leases or commitments for half the building. The state and federal governments have promised to rent about 1.2 million square feet, and Vantone, a Chinese company, has signed a lease for 190,000 square feet.
