Question: Is Obama just a soldier for "The Big Club"?
Edited on Mon May-24-10 10:20 PM by Elwood P Dowd
Seems many DUers feel that way lately.

"...... and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your fuckin' retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it . . . they’ll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this fuckin' place. It’s a big club and you ain't in it. You and I are not in The big club."

George Carlin

1. No.
And I just voted in a DU poll, where I agree that Obama is not doing anywhere near enough about the BP spill.

4. Almost all politicians become soldiers for The Big Club
if they want to remain career politicians.

But I disagree that it's a "Big" Club. It's really just a little club that happens to control most of the money and, via government, the laws and most of the guns. They recruit from the lower class for their police force, and pay the police middle class wages to keep them invested in the American Myth and enforcing the rules.

The "Big Club" is the People. Most just seem to have forgotten.

But on my walks and my stops at coffee shops, I'm finding more and more local disatisfaction with both main parties. I've converted to few Democrats to Nonpartisan, and a few more to Green Party. And I even got a few baristas to follow the lead of some Starbucks employees and join the IWW. The guy who delivers our vegetarian pizza was really pissed to learn that he's a member of the "disposable working poor."

We need more grassroots dissent. Time to stir the pot.

12. I'm not sure it matters. Whether he's a "good man hobbled by a bad system" or a "soldier for empire"
the bottom line is that we are the ones who will have to change this system because there are no leaders, there are only owners. If the most powerful figurehead in the world can't fight BP, then it has to be the people en masse--workers and farmers in particular, but some small business owners will fall on our side as well. We can live without BP and the con artists, but they absolutely cannot live without us.

13. Of Course He Is
You don't get past the Orwellian corporate TV unless you are vetted beforehand.

That's where presidents are made or broken, they own the TV, they own the presidents.

14. A soldier yes. Not a member.
Maybe a member wanna be, but they would never let him in. He can do their work, but he can't eat at their table.
