POLL: Who's interests are being looked after in the Gulf, BP's or we THE people?
Edited on Tue May-25-10 03:52 PM by ShamelessHussy
with the recent stories coming out of the gulf that shows gov officials enforcing BP policies, and media queries to Gov agencies being redirected to BP pr staff, BP ignoring scientist request for access, and concerns about chemicals, I get the feeling that there is no one there representing us, we the people.

how about you DU, who's interests are being given priority in the Gulf, we the people, or BP's?

and if it's BP's interests that are protected by our Gov, what kind of Gov do we have today?

1. Seems the admin. doesn't want to own it so they defer to BP for political cover...
To hell with leadership and saving the Gulf.

9. that may be what they use as cover, but they are active down there, but on who's side?
I think it is obvious now, and like you said, to hell with the people, and the gulf, we know who our bosses are... Big Biz.

2. That HAS to be a rhetorical question - because here in the good old USA, Inc., the
corporate priorities are the only concern of the government.

Even that socialist/commie/Nazi gang currently messing up the wonderful country left them by the patriotic Bush administration.

The statements of the current administration ring about as true as O'Leilly's "I'm looking out for you" bullshit.

3. Randi Rhodes making a good point today.
She agrees with the tea baggers about taking back our country. However, we have to ask ourselves, "From Whom?" She says the answer is the corporations who have taken over our government for their own profit. I would go a step further and say, we need to throw out all foreign countries who are raiding our assets and would include BP. Also, I would want to throw out all banking interests from overseas as well. Remember when Bush wanted to turn our ports over to Dubai to run? How did that end up and who did get the ports?

4. it is obvious BP will look after their own interests - they are, after all a corporation
charged by their stockholders with making the corporation profitable. That is undeniable.

They will do what is right . . . with respect to their bottom line.

If cleaning up works to improve their bottom line - they will clean up.

Alternatively - if fighting a battle in the courts works to their advantage - that is their approach.

We should not be misguided to think otherwise.

6. I am speaking about the Gov. Who's interest are they representing?
I thought they were elected to serve the people, not the corporations... thats what I am trying to get at.

However, this decade has made it pretty clear that Gov. with few exceptions, serves big biz.
