Is anyone watching the oil cam?
Earlier I was seeing the gusher and the exit point was clearly visible. I clicked back onto it a couple of minutes ago and the exit is no longer visible, just eruptions, and it looks like a volcano cloud and a huge one at that.

The dark spew is now just a huge erupting cloud that is lighter, had a hint of yellow in it and that is all that is visible.

What the hell is going on?

1. It looks like it has really exploded.
I was just posting in another thread that is looks like a volcano, like the pipe erupted.

7. I was just watching again and nothing much has calmed down,
though the angle is sometimes different, but it looks like eruptions.

I just wish I knew what the hell I'm looking at 'cause it doesn't look good to me.

5. The leak got much bigger, to my eyes.
I was watching as it went from a steady plume to a blow out. I don't think it is mud.

24. The news reports currently are saying that BP is ready to go with Top Kill.
Many mentioning Wednesday. This seems to be new, here's one such report:

Perhaps what you witnessed was them testing their connections to be sure they have full flow or pumping ability on each line. It could possibly include fluids that aren't meant to stop anything, to watch for them exiting the end of the pipe.

Keep in mind these are just guesses.

3. Something has changed.
I just happened to be watching for the past twenty minutes or so.

It looks like the plume of oil suddenly became much bigger and was moving faster.

Now, it could be that some other machine is moving around and disturbing the water.

But, indeed, something different is going on.

23. I missed the plume suddenly becoming larger and faster,
I sat stunned at what I was seeing. Yes, it could be something else moving around, but I thought that BP had stated that equipment was in place for the top kill and I was stunned, hoping that the damned thing hadn't blown.

The feed is offline for me now. Thanks. :hi:

38. It could also simply be that the flow's inconsistent
No idea how far down the pipe any damaged sections go, whether there's anything in or near the pipe in the reservoir that might be moving around, etc.

10. Thanks for that, and I've been there over the past
couple of days. I remember the leak from the seabed and then saw this change and I didn't know what to make of it, except that to my untrained eye, it looked like a violent series of eruptions.

I just checked again and it looks like a nasty swirl. I would just like to know what the hell is happening.:-(

I wonder if another pocket of natural gas just jumped out?

Right now, it is seemingly just staring out into the water. If a blast, maybe it knocked power to the controls on the sub.

Then the picture went blank for about 30 seconds. After that, everything suddenly went back to the way it was earlier today. WTF is going on!?

Edit: they're not showing the stats (depth, etc.) like they did before the short blackout. Also, the picture is way fuzzier than it was earlier today.

14. Looks like the robot is trying to do something now. Plume in the background.
With tinfoil hat firmly in place, I wonder if this is a loop right now. This looks like the same scene the other day when the robot was EXACTLY between the camera and the plume, and as noted above, the identifiers are not reporting depth and time.

15. Perhaps the real reason why it will be disconnected
is that if this new fix fails and makes it worse, it will be an even worse PR disaster for the Gulf Of British Petroleum.

and I am hoping that it doesn't get worse, but what I was seeing didn't look good at all.:(

25. My oldest told me that BP stated it was just sand being stirred
up...I mentioned that I'd need another source since they've been lying from day one.

:hug: My stomach has been in knots, and I can't imagine how it feels to you. I've just been hoping that nothing else blows out and that BP will have the good sense to not do the top kill if it will make things worse, (I laugh at my giving the greedy oil pigs credit for thought), I just hope that something gets the flow stopped.

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate these bastards! :hug:

People here are at a boiling point the, likes of which I have never seen. I doubt if any incumbent politicians will get a vote from us in the upcoming elections, no matter what the political party.

Many people who are not down here just don't seem to get the magnitude of this disaster, and/or are completely out of touch with reality. I've tried to ignore most of the stupid comments, but sometimes I just won't back down from them:

35. When I first got the feed again, it was murky with what was
explained to me was most likely frozen methane hydrates circulating wildly. Now I'm seeing equipment that I haven't seen before, and the camera angle is changing to observe a very strange looking piece of equipment and the robotic arms trying to hold it into place.

39. Thank you so much for this. I wasn't losing my mind...
Although since this was stamped at 5:30 EST and my post was around 7 p.m., I might've been stunned much longer than I thought!

This is what I saw with the eruptions getting larger, the yellow tinges that seemed to come at the camera, and it just getting uglier and uglier.

Thanks again, the live feed has been back for me for a while and it's very busy with equipment that I haven't ever seen before (but I know little about that field) and the bots are busy.

41. I'll admit that I was thinking military time...
subtract 12, and Memphis is CDT, subtract another hour, but I did sit stunned for a few minutes before I made the original post.

Jeebus, as much as BP has lied, etc., if they try the top kill tomorrow I hope that they don't screw that up, too. The feed has been/ is showing lots of equipment, robot activity now. Lots of heavy, serious looking equipment and the bots are very busy.

Thanks again, and I'll be hoping for the best even if BP is handling this. :evilgrin: I don't have much faith in them.
