Florida Republican party credit cards gone, $7.3 million legacy remains
Jon Sweede misses Jim Greer and Delmar Johnson. The former chairman and executive director of the Republican Party of Florida were frequent customers at Sweede’s Po’ Boys Creole Cafe in Tallahassee.

“Delmar always liked the Buffalo Chicken Po’ Boy … Jim liked the Mudbug burger, a 10-ounce Angus beef burger with a fried crawfish and Remoulade sauce,” Sweede said. “It’s huge.”

Many of those Po’ Boy’s tabs were not paid with money Greer earned form his $130,000 party salary, the $153,000 the party paid Johnson annually, or the hundred of thousands the two earned through a fundraising contract signed without the knowledge of other party officials.

From 2007 to early 2009, the two put GOP donors on the hook for more than $5,000 in Po’ Boy meals by charging them to their party credit cards, according to hundreds of credit card statements released by the party.

2. Is there just one honest Republican in 2010?
A non-corrupt Republican?

Seriously, can anyone name an honest Republican?

Thanks, Dappleganger.

3. The money shot (reading down in the linked article)
“The best you can say about issuing credit cards for the state party is that it was extremely stupid,” said Tom Slade, the outspoken former party chairman. When he ran the party in the 1990s “we only had one card.”
