Christian Right Lobbies To Overturn Second Law Of Thermodynamics
http://www.theonion.com/articles/christian-right-lobbies-to-overturn-second-law-of,281/

TOPEKA, KS–The second law of thermodynamics, a fundamental scientific principle stating that entropy increases over time as organized forms decay into greater states of randomness, has come under fire from conservative Christian groups, who are demanding that the law be repealed.

"What do these scientists want us teaching our children? That the universe will continue to expand until it reaches eventual heat death?" asked Christian Coalition president Ralph Reed, speaking at a rally protesting a recent Kansas Board Of Education decision upholding the law. "That's hardly an optimistic view of a world the Lord created for mankind. The American people are sending a strong message here: We don't like the implications of this law, and we will not rest until it has been reversed in the courts."

The controversial law of nature, which asserts that matter continually breaks down as disorder increases and heat is lost, has long been decried by Christian fundamentalists as running counter to their religion's doctrine of Divine grace and eternal salvation.

"Why can't disorder decrease over time instead of everything decaying?" asked Jim Muldoon of Emporia, KS. "Is that too much to ask? This is our children's future we're talking about."

4. In other news the christian right want to repeal the law of gravity because it teaches kids
that the world is round like a ball and not flat like the bible says. Further more, next the CR wants a law to make Earth the center of the universe and to restate the belief that the Sun revolves around the Earth. After that they want a law to ensure that all text books be written in Latin and only those with noble blood will be taught Latin which will stop everyone other then the nobles from reading so there won't be any controversy when the witch hunts resume. After all the christian right have already accepted torture as a way to get folks to confess to wrong doing.

7. No way the Christians would repeal that
Don't you guys remember? Evolution violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics!!!! If there was no 2nd law they wouldn't be able to make the claim anymore.

8. only if you ignore the sun
A materially-closed but energetically open system (like the earth orbiting the sun) can increase order as long as the energy inputs continue. Once the sun snuffs out, evolution here will cease.

9. But wait....
My right wing wacko brother in law says that because of this law, the earth would have devolved into a uniform ball of mud, if not for this magical mystery being who is separating everything out and making it special for us. Course, the law applies to closed systems, which the earth is not, but never mind the facts. Oh, and he's a scientist.
