Breaking " A hint of good news " about the oil gusher
On Rachel she just said she got the news at this moment that the mud injection MAY be working.
the most major sign that it may be successful is if it bubbles mud, not oil, and it looks a little hopeful.

It is the first positive sign that one of the attempts - stabs in the dark - is working.

Let us send tons of good vibes and wishes to the operation.

6. There was a press conference of the President of BP before 7:00 PM on CNN. He seemed happy.
I hope that is a sign it is going well.

And how much mud it'll take to plug the hole so the oil can't get out again?

10. The mud is being forced in.
That and the pressure from the well are forcing the mud out. THe mud is both pushing the oil back down the well, and gushing out instead of (or mixed with) the oil.

Once the oil is deep enough, they will follow with a cement plug to end it.

13. Indeed. All they can do is inject the mud into the BOP.
Of course, some of that mud's going to be spewed out of the leaks. If they inject enough mud, then the pressure will begin to overwhelm the flow-rate from the leaks, and begin forcing oil down the well. The end-goal is to force mud down the well until there's thousands of feet of heavy mud down in the well, weighing down on top of the oil, so the force of gravity keeps the oil down. Once that's done, then concrete can be injected to kill the well permanently.

12. We suffered through a lot. This disaster is the first one
for me that I am not able to talk about until the flood is stemmed.
