Our mad hatter, sign huckster, sharp double-dealer is saying, "Hey kid, I can let you have this little baby for only $32.95. It cost me twice that but I've gotta sell out quick. . . . Certain parties are getting too noisy, if you know what I mean. . . . Why don't you borrow your Dad's wallet for a couple minutes and let's see if he can get this for you. . . . If there's any left over, I'll fix you up with some coins straight from Goldline, what do you say?"

6. Conservative boogeymen and hobgoblins
Their "victories" over the last century or so (badly offset by their blunders, errors, and outright crimes, but who's keeping score?), are so meager and half-assed that this is what passes for vindication. Kopechnie, undeniably dead in an unfortunate accident, and Hiss, convicted under highly dubious circumstances on a charge unconnected to the wild accusations made against him.
