So now they admit the truth .... or the truth du jour. They've been minimizing the estimates since day one.

These motherfuckers cannot be trusted. Charge them criminally and seize their fucking assets. No whining about some arcane bullshit. This affects the goddam fucking whole country. This is worse than 911, except for intent.

Oh ....... and root the sleeper cell Bushies the fuck out of our government YESTERDAY.

10. Link here for you
Two teams of scientists calculated the well has been spewing between 504,000 and more than a million gallons a day. Even using the most conservative estimate, that means about 18 million gallons have spilled so far. In the worst-case scenario, 39 million gallons have leaked.

That larger figure would be nearly four times the size of the Exxon Valdez disaster, in which a tanker ran aground in Alaska in 1989, spilling nearly 11 million gallons.

14. The key word however
is estimated. Doubless those involved will sunstantiate how they arrived at their figures in court at sometime in the future.

11. Look, I loathe BP almost as much as anyone else here.
But if the government seized the assets of BP-America, doesn't that impact our relationship with Britain? Wouldn't the President be limited to seizing the American part of the company, and wouldn't he be forced to leave the international corporation alone?

My point is that I am with you on this in spirit but I don't know if it is feasible or even desirable. This is PRECISELY what the Republican party is hoping Barack Obama will do: seize a "private interest" and socialize it. That gives them ammunition for their claims; it plays into their hands.

I'd love to see some BP-tail kicked myself. But I don't have the answers. I don't know what to do. I just suspect seizing BP would NOT work out in the country's interest in the long run, especially if it puts a Republican back in the White House before 2020.

15. Denying them permits to operate in US waters might be a start, ya think?
Until they lick up every drop of oil, pay for the clean up, re-imburse for the damages, no
more drilling for BP.

16. I think we can only seize the assets on our soil (and in our territorial waters).
Let the UK deal with what's left.

17. The true figure was probably 4,000,000 gallons of oil a day....
And Lord knows what it is now that they've scoured the BOP.

But who's counting?
