9. What an utterly dumbass list!
Ronald Reagan, perhaps the most incompetent boob to occupy the White House in the 20th century, is greater than the man who not only led the country to independence, but helped to draft its Constitution and guided it for 8 years as its first President under that Constitution?

Or greater than the man who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

:argh:

And Elvis Presley was greater than Franklin Roosevelt?

:wtf:

Edited on Fri May-28-10 07:01 AM by ShortnFiery
This list is the neo-cons'/neo-liberals' WET DREAM.

At least ELVIS had some "good" in his drug addled soul. He adored his mother and made beautiful music. Overall, Elvis gave more of himself than he took from America.

Yes, I'd much rather honor ELVIS than any of the vile politicians on this list.

Ronald Reagan = the Anti-Elvis = the evil opposite of Elvis

One more thing: If it ain't got Mojo Nixon, then this list can use some fixing! :silly:

28. Discovery 'Top 25 Joke List - what WERE they smoking?
I looked at Discovery's list of the Top 25 and burst out laughing. I noticed firstly that most - if not all - the nominees were a) recent history and b) of the elite/wealthy etc. Lessee...at #1: an actor-turned-President who loved war :nuke: & who's psychic-seeking wife ran his 2nd term d/t his advanced Alzheimer's :silly:& who's big contribution was "Give the Rich A Break Today".

The first name I saw missing was Barack Obama. Well, I guess that didn't shake Ol'Glory one bit. :patriot: Why mention him...after all, it's not like it hasn't been done by ...ooops.. right.. Pioneer. First black President in 232 years. Daggone it...how'd they miss him?

Oprah. :boring: Oh, yeah. After she dies they'll be carving a talk show host' face onto Rushmore because being the first AA to make a billion bucks is IMPORTANT. Muhammmed Ali - great boxer, sure. But HE only got his big chance thanks to men like Jackie Robinson and Joe Lewis breaking the white glass ceiling. :toast: As far as Great women, why wasn't Susan B. Anthony mentioned? :loveya: Thanks to her women aren't banned from voting and have a voice in this country.

Lewis & Clark? :pals: We'd probably all still be crammed into the Eastern US if it wasn't for those intrepid explorers. Daniel Boone - who opened up the Ohio/Tennessee/Kentucky areas virtually unaided no longer matters.

Drs Salk & Sabin who eradicated polio in a single generation. O8) Nope. Not there. But Lance Armstrong, bike ride extraordinaire is. Wonder if they'll remember his name 50 years from now?

Bob Hope. Ha. Ha. :sarcasm: Same tired jokes for 50 years. Only managed to get where he was thanks to trailblazer 'Uncle Miltie' :tv: :radio: (before my time, but facts is facts).

Bill Clinton? Does Monica get her pic next to his? Or any of the dozens of other women to whom he's shown Presidential honors? :bounce: Why wasn't Geraldine Ferraro mentioned as the 1st woman to run for President?

The CEO of Discovery ought to find out just who was on that committee to select the names and then drug test 'em. If they were stupid enough to ask the American Peepul to pick the names, well, there ya go folks. Publik edukashun at its finest!

How in fucks sake can this be possible? Ronald Reagan is a better American than Abraham Lincoln. Really. Better than George fucking Washington. This pisses me off so much I cant stand it. In all seriousness if I had to make a worst American of all time list I would literally think about putting Reagan at the top of that list.

43. This is from a 2005 series.
The Greatest American was a four-part American television series hosted by Matt Lauer in 2005. The show featured biographies and lists of influential persons in U.S. history, and culminated in a contest in which millions the audience nominated and voted for the person they felt was the "greatest American". The competition was conducted by AOL and the Discovery Channel and reported on by the BBC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Greatest_American

So they climaxed five years ago. But I'm sure the St. Ronnie fanboys are still "pulling" for him.
