What if, as a show of protest, people in the Gulf

all got in their boats (right there is the first problem, they are not allowed to even do that) and motored out to where the oil is thick for miles around, and each opened a can of motor oil and poured it into the ocean?

Would they be arrested, on the spot? I betcha they would. I betcha they would.

2. It would show that spilling a quart of oil onto a mega gallon slick

is worthy of immediate incarceration, but that if you spill enough, no jail time at all.

4. The BP spill, regardless of potential negligence, was accidental.

Pouring oil directly in the water would be intentional.

Nobody gets arrested because their car's engine leaks oil and they keep topping it off rather than getting it fixed.
