If I were a Republican...
If I were a Republican... I would have voted to elect a president who thought war was the best way to spur economic growth.

But, instead I'd rather be a Democrat and protest against illegal wars of convenience

I could go on all night with this rant, but I'm having dinner.

Hopefully, you get the gist.

2. It got us someone who has to swim upstream in order to clean up GOP messes
Even if some of that opposition comes out of his own party.

5. Walking On Egg Shells...
Oppose corporate that are too big to fail and they will...bringing down the economy with it...putting millions out of work and angry. And who will they turn to when that happens? Sure won't be the Democrats who will get the blame while not creating this mess, but get the blame they will and we'll be stuck with even wackier and more corporate rushpublicans back in power.

Sadly only some people are starting to wake up to the corporate horse long being out of the barn...deregulation and throwing millions at politicians have ensured that our government has been scaled back and we're at the mercy of the "too big to fail" to such as point that if they do, such as what we're seeing in the Gulf, the government is limited in what it can do and we're stuck with yet another mess.

This administration has had to go from one minefield to another...and their actions appear "socialist" and reactionary to those on the right, yet not good enough for those on the left. You can't expect a generation plus of misinformation and corporate greed (that they still fight hard to hold onto) to subside overnight. This administration is in a damned if you do situation no matter what they do.

7. no doubt there have been many many landmines passed to this administration
and I am not anti-corporation. I work for a large corporation. They just need to be regulated - regulated in all aspects of their business - financial reporting, safety, pensions, etc.

But I never expected to see things like the privatization of the shuttle program coming from this admistration. Anyone who thinks it will be cheaper is smoking something. Anyone who thinks it will be safer is not thinking nor following current events.

Tens of thousands will be put out of work - and at the same time as we bail out wall street and crooked banks. One of our best PR programs of all time will come to an end. Yeah - I know - it will pave the way for bigger and more agressive programs. Well . . . . how about announcing these plans . . . and then begin the transition.

Just seems like one more corporate give-away to me.

8. It's Going To Take Time To Find A Balance...
Yes...we need to see reregulation and independent monitoring and prosecution of violations. The scale has tipped so far to the corporate side that shifting in the other direction (while the rich and corporates fight every step of the way) is needed if this country is to regain economic balance. We've seen a massive shift of wealth and a radical downsizing of the American workforce that regulation and government incentives can help bring more balance but it's done, if at all, in small increments.

Not long ago I hear a report about the end of the "guilded age" around the turn of the 20th Century. As today, corporates had amassed a lot of wealth and power that had created several recessions and labor unrest. It was Teddy Roosevelt who made the first moves...busting trusts and starting to bring about regulation, but it took the Depression to push to the next level. The reporter pointed out that we're back at the Teddy Roosevelt level.

Regarding the space program...I have long felt that there is room for private industry to get involved in their own space programs. Our government has long been providing subsidized transport for their satellites and more and more of the materials were being outsourced. The Shuttle program had over-lived its shelf life and from what I read, there won't be job cuts as the focus will be on new tranports and missions. And that's fine with me. I see NASA as taking the lead in space exploration and the development of technology then allow private corporations to pay their own way. Coordinating the two not only keeps existing space workers employed, but opens the door for many others.

Cheers...
