Palin, GOP say Obama's Oil Spill Response Comes up Short
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20006261-503544.html

May 28, 2010 11:02 AM

President Obama repeatedly said yesterday during his press conference on the Gulf oil spill that he takes responsibility for the disaster. Nevertheless, Republicans are pounding the president for failing to step up as a leader during the crisis. Some are also questioning his decision to extend for six months a moratorium on new offshore drilling plans.

Millions of gallons of oil have flowed into the Gulf of Mexico since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded on April 20. Oil company BP, which was operating the rig, is responsible for the cost of the clean up and containment efforts under the 1990 Oil Pollution Act. Mr. Obama also said yesterday that BP is handling the containment efforts because its technology is superior to the government's for this kind of operation.

Former GOP vice presidential contender Sarah Palin, who popularized the slogan of "drill, baby, drill," in the 2008 election, took the president to task for pointing to BP as the responsible party.

18. This is WORSE than Katrina for the environment and jobs
This spill and the failure to protect the coastal wetlands by building barriers will ultimately harm South Louisiana far more than Katrina. The loss of coastal wetlands will make the next hurricanes far worse.

Some things are BP: BEYOND POLITICIZING

8. Palin goes further, and actually blames Obama for everything:
"The fundamental problem at the core of this crisis is a lack of responsibility," she wrote in a Facebook note. "There's a culture of buck-passing at the heart of this administration that has caused the tragedy of a sunken oil rig to turn into a potential disaster."

You see, everything about BP's oil rig is simply a "tragedy". It's the administration that has turned it into a (potential) disaster.

She spews like a broken oil well.

This will undermine any criticism of BP and divide the Democrats.

Now defenders of BP can say "oh I see you agree with Palin."

The right wingers have all of the advantages in this game of partisan politics, and will always win.

The Republicans will say whatever will knock off track and get us at each others' throats. That is the main goal of their propaganda - they throw bait out there to get liberals to bite on it, and so to control democrats and liberals, not to "rally the base" or promote any ideology.

As often as not, the opposite of the latest ridiculous right wing talking point is equally ridiculous. But they have us trained to take the opposite position of anything they say.

25. I think that about sums it up for Rethuglican and Tea-baggers, they either
can't keep up or want him to rush out and do something they would like more.

As for "ramming it down their throats", the image I have of that is not fit to post, even here at DU.
