The best and the brightest really ARE on the scene in the Gulf.
Edited on Fri May-28-10 07:18 PM by Dont TS Me Brah
What do truly successful executives do that defines their pattern of success?

They surround themselves with competent people in the right places.

And from day one, President Obama has put his trust in the right people for this crisis.

Let's talk about just TWO of these people, first Admiral Thad Allen, USCG... he's the guy who took over Katrina relief and was widely praised for his efforts there.

And also Stephen Chu... the current Secretary of Energy, selected by President Obama. He's a Nobel Prize winning physicist, a walking, talking supercomputer... they don't get any brighter. People with this kind of intelligence have a mind that works in specific problem-solving patterns. It doesn't matter if it's at the bottom of the Gulf or on the surface of Mars, this is the kind of guy you want on the job.

This is why, the President has stated with confidence that he's done everything possible, he has experts who have ensured that. Being a gracious man, he's accepted responsibility for the aftermath... as all true leaders do even when they bear NO responsibility for an action.

We're in good hands... red alert cancelled.

7. the fact is there might be unfixable damage but
I think they have the most competent people working on it. There are some screw ups you just can't fix and this one never should have been allowed to happen.

3. Exactly! President Obama is not arrogant enough to believe he could do
more than these specialists. . .And anyone who doesn't see what a reasonable approach this is is probably expecting him to put on a wet suit and dive down to plug the leak himself!

What they want is Superman. . .or the Messiah!
Obama never pretended to be either. . .but what he is is a pragmatic, smart, humble and articulate President who KNOWS where to get the best assistance for specific problems.

5. Allen might have a shred of credibility left if he took his talking points from C-Level BP Execs
as opposed to repeating talking points derived from middle-management marketing and PR staff.

He looks like a fool with his "all is well" sphiel when BP execs are simultaneously on another channel refuting everything he is saying. Not that they are any more credible, but he is coming down on the wrong side of the story, time after time.

Credibility = shot. He's retired now and needs to go play golf (or whatever he enjoys) for the rest of his natural life and not be the voice of the US Government.

Every time he open his mouth, he looks more out of touch with the situation than his last "statement".

6. part of his job is to spead a feeling of confidence.
Do we really WANT leaders to stand up, hair on fire and scream 'We don't know how to fix it, eeeeeeekkkkkk!!!!!!!!"

All true leaders will do their best to calm a nervous public, that's their job.

15. Their job is to tell the fucking truth, damn it! Anything else is propaganda!

Our eco-system is at serious risk right now!

States and their people's livelyhood are at stake right now!

Our food chain is at risk right fucking now!

WE do not need confidence in fucking lies and deceit, and propaganda!!

To say otherwise shows one as being a total fool! and I might add, One who repeats the lies, Is lying as well!..and rather pathetic.

the best and the brightest haven't been faced with a problem like this before. I just pray they can succeed.

10. So how come for the past week, every time I turn on the TV news
and they're reporting from the Gulf, there are NO cleanup efforts visible? Miles and miles of visible oil on the surface, in the marshes, and quiet as can be. NOBODY out there cleaning up.

This is the BEST? Really? Your standards must not be very high.

11. Stephen Chu is not a "walking talking supercomputer".
Edited on Fri May-28-10 07:46 PM by girl gone mad
He's an intelligent guy, but geez.. he's human and he's fallible. I studied under several Nobel Prize winning physicists. Even the smartest made mistakes fairly regularly - and that was just specifically in his field of expertise. Don't even ask me to tell you about his dopey politics or his horrible financial management or his thoughts on medicine!

"People with this kind of intelligence have a mind that works in specific problem-solving patterns. It doesn't matter if it's at the bottom of the Gulf or on the surface of Mars, this is the kind of guy you want on the job."

That's a major stretch and I think I have two words that disprove your theorem for all time: Lubos Motl. Brilliant mathematician, highly successful physicist, complete idiot whom I wouldn't hire to walk my dogs.

and he's not doing anything about it.

16. There are REAL monsters at work.
So far I don't see any of them being perp walked or even slowed down a little bit.

REAL crimes have been, and are being, committed.

I don't see any response at all. Just more propaganda.

17. I thought the best and brightest ran off with the multimillion dollar bonuses for
sinking the economy. Now that they've succeeded in sinking the economy I guess they figure what better than to sink the environment.
