1. Under what law?
States are part of the Union - not a different Country.

2. You think that'll stop them, given some of the stuff they're trying these days?
Texas and Oklahoma are trying to push legislation denying citizenship to children of undocumented immigrants, even though they have zero grounds or ability to do so. If a state gets garrison-mentalitied enough I can see them trying to push things a bit further.

3. It has alread been done in history
LAPD ran posts at the CA/NV state line, at which they demanded that people from Oklahoma show cash or be turned back. They had no legal authority, but they did it anyway.

5. Oh, yes...
And people would show the money, drive across, and sometimes walk the money all the way around so others could show the same stack. Those without options sometimes had to walk around to get in at all, if they made it. I think Woody Guthrie walked around the check point, but I am not certain.

8. It is an indication of the frustration on the immigration issue
While there is a lot of bad gouge out there, several things are clear:
- Enforcement is far from uniform.
- Employers are rarely punished
- Everyone assumes its about Hispanics
- Economic impact assessments are all over the map

Not sure how to separate the wheat from the chaff on this one.

9. So will I need a passport to visit the Qualla reservation now?
After all it is part of the sovereign land of the Cherokee - which the United States of America stole from them...

Maybe the indiginous people should be putting up borders and insisting on passport controls.

Seriously.

12. I could go for that, but I would restrict it to
keeping politicians from other states from entering, like Karl Rove, Sarah Palin and others who would meddle in our politics and elections. Otherwise federal laws are fine with me.
