"it's never been done before" (BOP on BOP action oil-porn update)

For those not on Twitter, J Grindal is an engineer on contract with the Gulf Oil disaster. His Twitter was shut down by management a few days ago when he was still on the rig. The Oil Drum folks know him and hold him in a position of authority on what is going on.

Just thought I would share an update he sent out today:

Landing another BOP is VERY difficult, and there is 0 proof of concept-it's never been done before. Could work theoretically, tho

So we have moved from "this works on land, untested in 5k of water" to "never been done before" anywhere under any conditions.
