Personally I did not know BP also owns the AM/PM line of gas stations. Quite a list of products and companies they have their fingers dipping into.

1. Buy Sunoco if possible
Sunoco is the only oil company to have signed the CERES principles.

Several years ago Sierra Club magazine had a comparison rating of oil companies and Sunoco and Hess were the 'least bad' - I think they got D's or C- but the rest were F's.

4. Ironically it was Sunoco & BP who were ranked the highest.
http://www.sierraclub.org/sierra/pickyourpoison/

Sierra Club has updated the article and put BP in a special cateogry "dishonorable mention" but prior to the DWH explosion it was ranked the highest (along with Sunoco).

7. Thanks for the link
I always buy Sunoco, but used to consider BP (which has a closer station to my house) an acceptable alternative.

Hess isn't even mentioned in that article so I must have seen that in another rating by another environmental group.

Anyway Sunoco has always come out 'least evil' so I will stick with them as my #1 choice. :)

2. What good would it do to boycott BP? Exxon-Mobil is just as bad.
And it was our own US Government who gave BP a waiver on all the safety devices and regulations...

Maybe we should boycott the U.S. Government who did not do their job and looked the other way while taking payoffs from Big Oil?

3. yes, I agree with you
I haven't used Exxon or Mobil ever in my life though and won't stop at a BP either.

Yes I also see the US Gov as the leading cause of this oil volcano as well. Decades of mismanagement and regulation cutting brought us to this spill more than anything else.

5. Well, their oil shows up at all gas stations and who wants to walk and bike everywhere?
Edited on Sun May-30-10 08:08 PM by taterguy
I sure as hell won't bike the next time I go to the Outer Banks.

Just driving there is an eternity.

6. boycott Halliburton and Transocean too
BP leased the rig but is the operator.

They should all be "hung drawn and quartered"

11. How exactly do I boycott Transocean & Haliburton?
Both are service companies for the integrated majors.

There isn't a single gas station in the United States that doesn't have gas made from oil provided by their services.

9. gee, I see a link there
directly to BP's website that points out their different products. I guess I could have typed it all out for you so it would be plain and simple. My fault. :eyes:

14. AM/PMs are not gas stations, they are convenience stores attached to gas stations.
I have one right down the street from me...at the BP station. It's pretty obvious it's all part of BP.

15. I'm trying hard to remember them from Phoenix.
We don't have them on the east coast (at least that I know of) and it's been a good 8 years since I've seen them. They have additional products though as well, like Castrol motor oil etc.
