Cuba dissidents say police raid meeting

HAVANA - Cuban police violently broke up a dissidents' meeting, leaving at least two people in need of medical treatment, opposition sources said Monday.

At least 30 people were detained briefly after a weekend raid on the home of well-known dissident Jorge Luis "Atunez" Garcia Perez in the central city of Placetas, opposition leader Martha Beatriz Roque said in a communique sent to journalists by fax.

Veteran dissident Elizardo Sanchez said he independently confirmed the details of the raid and that all who were detained were later released.

At least two people needed medical care, including one man who required a head X-ray, and were later sent home, said Sanchez, head of the Cuban Commission on Human Rights and National Reconciliation.

"This is the most violent police action we have seen in many months," he said.

1. Last time we got hearsay about Cuban police violently breaking up a meeting ...
... we later saw some photos taken by the brutalized dissidents (lol) of a couple of small unarmed unprotected Cuban police women escorting (w/no handcuffs) the Ladies in White onto a public transportation bus and giving them a ride home in time for dinner, after they refused to leave the property of an official.

Oh, and, right... this story... A veteran US paid dissident heard from someone else who confirmed what someone else told him about a meeting, then he heard from someone that someone said (there's the second confirmation :eyes: ) that someone else needed a radiograph (AND THE BRUTAL DICTATORSHIP GAVE HIM ONE) and then gave him a ride home.

Can't wait to see how this turns out. I wonder how much of Posada's blood money was on hand.

2. Nobody in the US has any credibility on human rights in Cuba while the Guatanamo prison exists
The location was chosen because the Republicans wanted a "facility" beyond the reach of law

But of course as long as the US maintains a facility in Cuba to detain and execute people without transparency or any established standard process -- it's simply idiotic hypocrisy for anyone in the US to pretend to be outraged about "human rights in Cuba"
