17. Always has been, always will be. That is all that matters in 2010 AND especially 2012.

20. The 55% figure is favorability rating
Not job approval.

8. The CBS poll is either a complete outlier, or is cooked.
Gallup showed him unchanged, Research 2000 shows him only down one, but of course, the bobbleheads on the cable news channels aren't talking about those polls, are they?

19. The media used to like Gallup too, until the numbers started rising.
Then they had to search for a new poll with lower numbers.

21. "The White House lashed out at the Gallup Poll"
One time when Gallup had Obama at 47%. Robert Gibbs said that a 6 year old could duplicate Gallup's work.

""I tell you, if I was a heart patient and Gallup was my EKG, I'd visit my doctor," Gibbs said. "If you look back, I think five days ago, there was an 11-point spread, now there's a 1-point spread. I mean, I'm sure a 6-year-old with a crayon could do something not unlike that. I don't put a lot of stake in, never have, in the EKG that is the daily Gallup trend."

23. I'm not a big fan of Gallup either, but the media used to cite them constantly.
Now, not so much.

11. This poll is a crock. The disapproval # did not change from last month, the # of people unsure
Edited on Fri Apr-02-10 06:20 PM by Jennicut
if they disapprove or approve changed from 10% last month to 15% this month:

Now 3/2010
Approve 44% 49%
Disapprove 41% 41%
Don’t know 15% 10%

12. Does anyone remember
this much polling this early into Bush's term? I swear there is such an obsession with Obama's numbers in the press. The whole healthcare debate was not about what was in the bill but how it would play out for Obama and the Dems on November.

It also seems like some cable shows - Morning Joe especially - always show the lowest poll out there no matter how obscure the poll is. I'll see a Gallup poll with good numbers and then Mika and Joe are gloating over some backwoods poll that shows Obama tanking.
It also seems that there is an abnormal focus on the election in November and no matter what the issue it's discussed in terms of whether Obama will come out on top in November. This has been going on since last year - just months into his administration every cable show has been in the business of disecting the numbers. Permanent campaign mode.

It's getting tiresome. I don't remember this kind of media obsession when Bush was squatting in the WH. Is it me or is this a whole different standard now that a Dem is in office.

14. 44%?
Seems kinda in the middle... some polls show 50 and some show 38. Hey, it's a divided nation... that's NOT gonna' change.

15. None show 38%.
Even Rasmussen. Today it is 46% approval. Higher then CBS's.
