300 ex-Congress critters are among the hired guns who kill progressive reforms

http://www.hightowerlowdown.org/node/2302

Washington besieged by an occupying force of corporate lobbyists

Change. That's what Americans want.

-snip-

But where's the change? It's in subcommittees, in negotiations, in limbo, in transition, in purgatory, in trouble, in Never Never Land, in the trash can.

-snip for cartoon-

Why? Right-wing pundits and corporate-funded tea-party groups want you to blame Washington. Well, yes, Obama seems to lack convictions, much less courage; Senate Democrats tend to be five-watt bulbs sitting in 100-watt sockets; and congressional Republicans are...well, contemptible and pathetic. But these characters are the public face of the problem, not the source. Progressives need to focus on those shadowy players who're pulling the strings from behind the scenes to kill the will of the people and impose their special interest over America's public interest.

These people have been in the business of furthering FASCISM for DECADES and are never held to account because they are experts at choosing and schmoozing corporate media and their goodhaired mouthpieces.

5. They should be banned for life from such lobbying.
No ex congress critter should be allowed to lobby congress. That applies to top staffers, too.

6. Sounds like revolving door employment might fly there.
If so, these federal workers are well off. We actually have a state policy (Illinois) against revolving door employment for state workers, as I'm sure most other states do, too.

7. Given the corruption through out Illinois government
The policy doesn't seem to have worked very well.

8. Actually, these policies came after the corruption.
State workers now have to "pass" an ethics training "course" every year. In my view, it is not taken very seriously as if it serves to provide an entry on to some administrator's resume.
