Fairbanks man files to challenge Murkowski
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A Fairbanks attorney announced plans to run for the U.S. Senate, saying he wants to stop the country from a "headlong plunge into socialism."

Joe Miller says he will challenge Sen. Lisa Murkowski for the Republican nomination.

Murkowski has held the seat for almost eight years. She announced her candidacy for a new term on April 7.

Miller ran for a state House seat in 2004, losing to Democrat David Guttenberg of Fairbanks.
