Cornyn wants Rossi to make up his mind soon about challenging Sen. Murray
Sen. John Cornyn (Texas) is getting antsy over his recruit for a Washington Senate race.

Dino Rossi, a former Washington state senator and two-time gubernatorial candidate, is Cornyn’s favored challenger to Sen. Patty Murray (D).

The problem is that Rossi hasn’t announced he’s running, and Cornyn, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, is running out of time to find a suitable replacement if Rossi bows out.

1. Rossi has lost twice and will lose again. His BIG ego can't take another bruising like that.
The Republics don't have anyone to run against Murray. If they did, it could be trouble, but they don't. Cornyn wants Rossi because he's the only one with name recognition.

Truly, all the Dems would have to do is show some of Rossi's ridiculous old campaign commercials to ruin him. Washington State isn't Texas or Arizona or Florida. In fact, I half wish Rossi would run so it would suck up some of the Republic resources. Of course, all the old beasts would emerge from the woodwork again: The Seattle Times would show their true colors (deep red), McCaw would show his deep pockets, Tim Eyeman would get his little woody going again, the neo-nazis would emerge from the forests, the Glen Beckers would rise from the ashes (he was born here). But, I don't think they could pull it off. And if it meant helping out the rest of the country by us taking on this battle, we're up to the challenge.

After all, unlike Maria Cantwell, who has a spotty track record, Patty Murray has been a loyal progressive supporter all these many years with only a few exceptions.

2. Cornyn needs to look elsewhere. Rossi will not be running.
Kemper Freeman, Rossi's main money bags in his state senate race and two failed gubernatorial attempts, is the finance chair for Clint Didier, the teabagger already in the race. The Washington Association of Realtors that has supported Rossi in the past has already announced its endorsement of Murray.

The Republican state chair, Chris Vance, still wants Rossi in and isn't doing what he could/should for Benton. Benton can't raise the cash he needs with Rossi dithering. All that does is help Murray pull further ahead in the dollar race and now she has even pulled ahead of Rossi in Rasmussen's most recent poll--probably in the new Moore Republican-commissioned poll, too, or the results would have been released.

3. Chris Vance has not been the Republican State Chair since 2007

The current chair is Luke Esser, who thankfully is even less capable then Vance was.
