David Brooks of all people
"I’m feeling grateful to the prez these days because we happen to be in the middle of a bunch of midsized crises. There’s the oil spill in the Gulf (which is verging on a big crisis, I guess). There’s the Times Square bomber. There are various floods in Tennessee and elsewhere. The European Union is falling apart over the Greek debt crisis, and so on and so on. It’s good to have a president with equipoise. It seems to me that Obama is handling his role, which ranges from the marginal to the significant, in these events with calm professionalism. He’s active yet not annoying. He’s not taking credit for everything. He’s not creating friction by making any missteps. He is calm, cool and collected".

5. Didn't Brooks come out in support of O in the 2008 election?
I'm gld to see that he's proven himself mildly educable in the past year or so.

6. Anyone not named Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity is a sellout to those people now.
Their heads are built with explosion-resistant crumple zones.

7. drill baby drill!
stay the course! :patriot:

David Brooks: When the oil thing blew, he mobilized what he could, he delegated authority, especially to the Coast Guard, and he reminded the world that even amid disasters like this, we still need a variety of energy sources.

9. That is FAR from "drill baby drill." Obama is NOT going to open up any new drilling sites
until he finds out what went wrong with THIS one (which was there before HE was), and he may even decide NOT to open the new sites if the situation calls for that. But keep trying to compare him with Palin! :eyes:

18. David Brooks has had a man-crush on Obama since Obama became a candidate.
Kind of like the "tingle" that Tweety gets in his leg.

Edited on Wed May-05-10 08:22 PM by amborin
Brooks also liked the excise tax on so-called "cadillac" plans in HCR

20. Brooks is a moderate conservative. His politics and Obama's are not that far apart.
Brooks is like the old style moderate Repubs.

They have become extinct in the Rep party as it has moved to the hard right.

As the Dems have continued the move to their own center-right, this puts Brooks squarely in the right aisle of Obama's logical support base.
