Take a look at this research on Jobs creation I just did after today's great number:
Here is some real interesting jobs data I dug up at the Dept. of Labor website:

It wasn’t until three one half years after Bush took office where the first monthly job growth exceeded 290,000, today’s number (Mar 2004 – 338,000 jobs)

During the entire Bush presidency, and in spite of two massive “pro-growth” tax cuts for the rich, there were only 6 months total where the numbers exceeded what we saw today.

The average job growth from the time Bush took office in Jan 2001 until the 338,000 job creation in March 2004 was negative.

Today’s number was the best number (after Obama was only in office for 1 yr and 2 mo) since the jobs number of Feb 2006.

Outside of the years of 2004, 2005, 2006 (in other words, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008) there was not a single month of job growth better than todays.

Remember this data: it is your armament. The Republicans are already saying "but unemployment went up by .1%. Of course this only indicates that more people are actually starting to look for work.

3. I don't have "links." Google "Employment, Hour Earnings from the Current Employment..."
Bureau of labor statistics. THE Data from the Department of Labor.

You can download the spreadsheet from the Bureau. This is the primary source.

I can't understand why Dems don't use this stuff.

But then I only got two posts out of this. I swear we're clueless when it comes to winning a campaign.

2. But even some of the Republicans were conceding this was good news...
... which I would never have predicted. (Cantor, Bachmann to name a few.)

4. Well, it's not only about winning the argument.
Although I agree we need to win the argument. We - America - have some twenty-five to thirty million people who are either unemployed or underemployed. This nation needs many millions of jobs, and while it is clear we're going in the right direction, we need to find a way to bring manufacturing jobs to America.

If we as Democrats can bring manufacturing jobs - real jobs that pay well, and include benefits - we'll face arguments from a position of far greater strength. The real lesson from this jobs number is that we're not doing enough to bring a manufacturing economy back.

It's a good post and useful information. But - and this is just one man's opinion - I think when the GOP starts whining that good numbers don't mean anything, let's hit them the facts combined with some new proposals to actually improve things.

Like, I dunno, a lower corporate tax rate for companies that actually make physical products of any kind, versus companies that sell "derivatives" or "marketing" schemes or provide services. Just a thought.
