Teacher suspended for President Obama assassination lesson
Apparently it took lots of phone calls to do the right thing. :eyes:

Teacher suspended for President Obama assassination lesson

An Alabama teacher has been suspended after a geometry lesson on the best angles to assassinate President Obama

An Alabama teacher has been suspended after a national outcry for using an assassination attempt against President Obama to illustrate a maths problem to his class.

Gregory Harrison, the teacher at Corner High School in Jefferson County, Alabama, was to receive a slap on the wrist in the form of a "long conversation" with the local school authorities, after sparking a Secret Service investigation when he discussed possible angles to use in shooting at the president.

But officials only later decided they needed to take tougher action against Harrison following a flood of calls from people outraged at the lenient treatment.
Harrison's deadly lesson was revealed this week by the local newspaper, Birmingham News, which reported:

The teacher was apparently teaching his geometry students about parallel lines and angles, officials said. He used the example of where to stand and aim if shooting Obama.

"He was talking about angles and said, 'If you're in this building, you would need to take this angle to shoot the president,'" said Joseph Brown, a senior in the geometry class.

1. At a certain point, you'd think people would realize
that this is NOT appropriate. Good lawd -- it's bad enough the educator used the POTUS as an example, but really -- could they not come up with a better way to teach geometry?

REALLY?

I would very much like for Americans to go back to having morality filters. Right now I see none. No common sense, no sense of history and no sensitivity to the shameful events in our recent American History.

10. It was beyond stupid..and says more about
his lack of common sense and perhaps a grudge than anything.

Thank you to whomever participated in the "flood of calls"!

"Who in America hasn't made a joke about Obama?"

I don't have to make "jokes" about the President..I didn't make jokes about fucking bushcheney, either.

24. And bullets don't follow straight lines, they follow ballistic trajectories
So it's not a geometry problem at all, but physics.

And replacing "Obama" with "buck" would have been a heck of a lot easier.

15. IMHO he knew damned well it was inappropriate. He didn't care.
He obviously hates having that "damned n-----r" in the WH.

17. Since the school admin was only going to give him a stern lecture, he also knew they backed him too
so he took the opportunity and ran with it.

I expect he never in a million years expected this to make a national splash. I believe he thought he could do his despicable math exercise and get away with it because his admin hates Obama too, and he knew it.

He's only gotten suspended after a national outcry. Nobody cared locally....

2. Sad that it took so much public outrage for the "officials" to decide that the teacher
deserved a bit more than a slap on the wrist.

7. Absolutely!
My biggest fear during the Bush presidency was the possibility we might have a left wing nutcase as deranged as the right wing NRA imbeciles.

5. The same nimrods who defended this incredibly stoopid 'lesson'
would probably get all fizzed-up with rabies if the teacher had used billiard balls as an example: 'He's teachin' our chillun the debbil's game - POOL!'

23. With all the concern about school shootings one would think that it is a no brainer to
suspend a teacher who would use shooting anybody as an example in a lesson.
