Rand Paul: WH criticism of BP sounds 'un-American' (AP)
Rand Paul: WH criticism of BP sounds 'un-American'

WASHINGTON (AP) - Kentucky's Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul is criticizing President Barack Obama's handling of the gulf oil debacle as putting "his boot heel on the throat of BP."

Paul says Obama's criticism of the oil company sounds like an attack on business and "really un-American."

In an interview Friday on ABC's "Good Morning America," Paul says the president's response is part of the "blame game" that's played in the U.S. Paul said that leads to the thinking that tragic incidents are "always someone's fault" and added, sometimes accidents just happen.

Paul began the interview on the defensive when GMA host George Stephanopoulos tried to clarify Paul's position on whether civil rights laws should apply to private businesses. Paul, who won the Kentucky GOP primary Tuesday, asked when his honeymoon with the media started.

1. This guy has the political instincts of a piece of cardboard. Is he that dumb?
I personally think it is un-American to kill the Gulf region with tons of oil but that is just me.

17. DING DING DING! Jennicut, you're our grand prize winner!
This guy has the political instincts of a piece of cardboard.

And only half the charisma.

But what's already become clear about Rand Paul is that his only qualification for politics is his pedigree. He proudly walked into a liberal lion's den when he visited Rachel Maddow, but wasn't the least bit prepared to answer her questions--especially ironic since he'd previously appeared on her show to announce his candidacy! And now this--supporting BP's "right" to soil the ocean in pursuit of profits. Not working for us too well, is it?

One thing I admired about Sonny Bono's political career is that he didn't put his name on a one-way ticket to DC--he started local and worked his way up. Arnold Schwarzenegger didn't, and California is paying the price. You're not ready for the big time, Rand--put in a few years on a city council first.

:headbang:
rocktivity

P.S. Here's where you can contribute to Rand's opponent Jack Conway and Blanche Lincoln's opponent Bill Halter, even if you don't live in their states.

29. Clearly he is clueless.
I really don't have a problem with children of politicians running for office themselves, public service is not a bad thing to want to do. But one must have some political instincts as well as common sense, and an understanding of the problems of the day. The guy has his kooky beliefs and the idiotic teabag movement behind him, that is about it. Does he know anything about really policy? I doubt it. Makes Scott Brown actually look like he has a brain. Rand Paul should stick to being an eye doctor.

Keep talking, "Rand".

I hope he has a microphone in his face every day. I'd consider opening a Twitter account just to follow his every utterance. He's going to be pure gold. "Accidents just happen"

4. There is your Libertarian idea

A true Libertarian would say companies should be held accountable (via the market place of course) and that costs should be internalized. In other words, whatever costs are incurred to clean up the spill, BP and thus BP's consumers should bear those costs.

But Paul is just chalking it up to accident. Oh shit, dems da breaks. Move on, nothing to see here.

Just what we DONT need, even more corporate pandering.

8. Okay, I'm going to give the American people some credit
I really believe that the great majority of Americans, even many of the bat-shit teabagger types, are pretty pissed off at BP right now. To call going after BP "un-American" is really a stupid, stupid move. Keep going, Ayn Rand Paul, you are out-teabagging the teabaggers themselves.

24. Wow. Obama should offer to take Rand on a tour of the Gulf Coast.
Sticking up for BP while the entirety of gulf industry (and beyond) is in peril. Well played, Mr. Rand.

Accidents happen, sure. Maybe he should ask his parents about that.

He's Sarah Palin with a penis. In fact, I'm expecting for her to come to his defense any day now.

And since wingnuts generally consider it very patriotic to criticize other countries and cultures, I have to assume this dimbulb has no clue that BP standards for British Petroleum.
