Barack Obama: No more cosying up to oil industry
US President Barack Obama has vowed to end the "cosy relationship" between oil companies and US regulators in the light of the Gulf of Mexico disaster.
Promising "relentless" efforts to stop the deep sea leak, he rebuked oil industry executives for seeking to pass on blame for the disaster.
He condemned "the ridiculous spectacle" of them "falling over each other to point the finger of blame".
Weather forecasts suggest winds may drive the spill ashore at the weekend.
Eleven people died when an explosion destroyed the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig on 20 April.

1. Day late and a dollar short, and furthermore, I don't believe him. He spouted this about banks and
Wall Street and health insurers, but as usual for him, it's just talk. He's a great talker, that one. Too bad that's all he has.

3. Then he needs to get rid
of a shit load of people in the MMS, which should have been done right away. The "cosy relationship" has been no secret.

I don't believe anything they have to say anymore, not after the public option stuff.

I will judge them by their policies and actions.

So far, on that... well, not so good.

13. Proofs in the pudding and since he intends to continue and even offer tax incentives for
drilling knowing that if the worst happens we have no suitable response as well as that we have insufficient reserves to meaningfully reduce prices or impact supply that he continues to essentially acting in the interests of big oil profits over the actual interests of the people or our environment.

I want to see a lot of aggressive action on this. This could kill the Gulf. Words aren't enough.

And by that, I mean the whiners. They bitch when Obama doesn't say anythin' and bitch when he does. They're only content when they're yapping about something negative. I've never met as many negative assholes as I have on DU. It's rather pathetic. It's the most depressing and annoyingly defeatist website on the whole goddamn internet. I've found more optimism among Clipper fans than you could ever hope to find on this dreadful and bleak site.

It's proof positive that these fools will never be content. They hate Obama and they're going to cry like babies every time he says something - even if, at its roots, they agree with him.

It's funny because I don't see a damn difference between the psycho right-wing critics of Obama and the laughably ridiculous leftist twits. Obama can't do anything without someone bitching...even when he does something they've been advocating for years.

So fuck 'em. That's the type of attitude I'm taking with these fools. It's the only thing that works with 'em because, in the end, they'll never be happy. They'll always be bitter souls lost in the land of reality.

As my grandma used to say, "piss on 'em!"

I think I will. :D

24. If it makes you feel any better, my response would have been the same regardless of who is President
This country isn't going to stop cozying up to big oil anytime soon, and even the ridiculous centrist twits should be smart enough to know that.

22. "vowed" "promised" "condemned"
Yes, those are some of the President's favorite verbs.

I'm more partial to an "is doing" kind of thing, but it's all about what tense you fancy.

So that we can all make our smart-ass comments....

That's why I've come to the correct conclusion that this board is full of little whining piss-ants that only made it through the first chapter of Political Agitation for Dummies.
