Mr. President now is not the time to be talking basketball.
The Gulf of Mexico is dying and you are talking basketball? WTF were you thinking?

http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=5212674

Obama explores LeBron's options

If LeBron James isn't sure he can win in Cleveland, President Barack Obama thinks there's an opportunity with
his hometown Chicago Bulls.

"You know, like I said, I don't want to meddle," Obama told TNT. "I will say this: Rose, Joakim Noah it's a pretty good core.
You know, you could see LeBron fitting in pretty well there."

Obama was interviewed about a number of basketball subjects by broadcaster Marv Albert on the White House basketball court.
The interview will be shown Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.

BTW what a bone headed thing to say too ..... Mr. President you already have the Illinois vote sewn up but Ohio is the important
vote.

There's nothing wrong with him taking a few minutes out of the day to talk about sports.

5. It showed a tin ear to both the gravity of the situation in the Gulf and ....
.... could lose Obama @ least 50,000 votes in Ohio in 2012.

It is fine for him to watch, play, and talk basketball ..... I am all for that and I am sure
it helps him deal w/ the stress of being President but to go on the record at this time
was not a smart thing to do.

a sports team or player then they truly have no brains. But I have never heard on this happening in any election.

16. Granted sports are trivial in nature but James means millions of $s to
N.E. Ohio and his leaving Cleveland will really hurt an already hurting city. From the
cab drivers, to the restaurants, street vendors, janitors, and so on. James can do what
he wants but for the President to take a public position on it was a stupid thing to do.
Cleveland / Ohio still hurts from the Browns' move.

And yes some people live their lives out through College of Pro Sports and take things
to a strange level.

what BP will keep doing.

38. I am an ecologist and I sure don't see it.
There are many things that can be done and are not being done.

I see BP having the coast guard tell reporters that if they try to film the oil
hitting the beaches they will be arrested ..... I just heard this morning that BP
told the EPA they will keep using the very toxic chemical oil dispersement
material even thought they were told to stop using it. It turns 10,000,000
gallons of oil into 10,000,000 gallons of oil. Any sort of ecological restoration
will require trying to remove as much of the oil as possible .... spreading it
out or sinking it to the sea floor just makes the problem bigger.

BP has been lying from day one and seems more interested in protecting
the company then the gulf.

The response should be federalized ASAP.

I think the President is a genuine fan.
I like basketball, football, baseball. Went to games with my Dad, good bonding time with him. That is what sports means to me, brings back good memories of my Dad taking me to Yankee Stadium at 12 years old. And I was a girl, but he didn't treat me like I wouldn't understand any of it.

69. large sections are dying right now
the wetlands and estuaries that are being hit w/ the oil can longer serve their prior ecological functions
these areas are the "nurseries" for much of the ocean life.

the areas of sea floor underneath the large plumes of deep oil show thousands and thousands of dead and dying
"things"

scientists have found 30% reductions of O2 in the water in many places ..... add that to the seasonal hypoxic zone and you have
added one more ecological insult to the sustainability of the gulf ..... lower O2 = more dead things .... the more dead things in the
water then the more demand on O2

and when that oil hits the coral reefs off the Florida Keys it will not be pretty

***********

God knows how many billions if not trillions of gallons of oil are in that formation that BP tapped into

67. A basketball is a little too small to plug that 21-inch pipe, but it would be a good start

71. Will anyone truly connect basketball and the oil spill?
Really? Someone out there is going to see President Obama engaging in a few minutes of harmless sports gab and be think, "Good God, I can't believe he is sitting there talking about basketball and oil leak hasn't been plugged? ... IMPEACH NOW!"
And people in Ohio are so shallow that they will vote Republican because a Bulls fan wants His Lordship, LeBron James, to sign with Chicago?
Really?

72. Actually, playoffs is exactly the right time to talk basketball!
Is he allowed to eat while the oil is still spewing? What about smiling . . . is that allowed? Can he pet the dog?

Why don't you make a list of things he's allowed to do and forward it to the White House so they don't offend you.
