Joe Scarborough, in an attempt to continue the meme that Obama broke the law re: Sestak,
Edited on Tue May-25-10 02:41 PM by jenmito
compared it to what HE (and Mika) say would've happened if BUSH had told "a Republican who was running for office" that he'd give him a job in charge of thousands of Americans' lives if he wouldn't run for office. They claimed Bush would've had impeachment hearings in a SECOND.

First of all, that's BULL. Bush did SEVERAL things worthy of impeachment and never got in ANY trouble for it. Secondly, it's not as if Sestak is just some unqualified person who would be getting the job he was supposedly offered, Secretary of the Navy:

"A member of the United States Navy for over 30 years, Sestak is a retired two-star Rear Admiral and the highest-ranking former military officer currently serving in Congress.<3> During his career in the Navy, he led a series of operational commands, including commanding the USS George Washington aircraft carrier battle group in Afghanistan and Iraq. He served as Director for Defense Policy on the National Security Council under President Bill Clinton and, following the September 11 attacks, was selected to serve as the first Director of "Deep Blue," the Navy's anti-terrorism unit. Though he achieved the rank of Vice-Admiral (three stars), Sestak left the Navy before he had been a Vice Admiral long enough to be able to retire at that rank. He retired at the lower rank of a two star Rear Admiral (upper half).<4"[br />
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Sestak

I know that's besides the point, but it should be pointed out that he IS qualified for the job supposedly offered, unlike anyone BUSH'S appointments.

5. Yup. And my OP didn't even bring up the fact that Obama already visited the Gulf region on May 2nd
to address the oil leak, but that hasn't stopped Scarborough from complaining all morning about Obama not going down to the Gulf yet. I sent him this video as proof he HAS been there: http://tinyurl.com/2cwb7hn

I noticed he mentioned Rahm a few times claiming Rahm was involved in "both" "bribes," Sestak and the Blagoyovich fiasco.

but I really feel SOMEONE has to call them on their BS whenever it happens, which is often. And I DO like when they have guests on like Jonathan Capehart and sometimes Eugene Robinson, etc.

15. This just another Rethug witch hunt
Edited on Tue May-25-10 03:41 PM by rocktivity
ANYONE who accepts a job from the White House has to quit the one he already has whether he's in office or running for it. Obama may have been able to benefit from Sestak's taking the job POLITICALLY, but that's not a crime. "I'll pay you a million dollars to drop out of the race" is a crime. "I'll publish these pictures of you partying in the nude if you don't drop out of the race" is a crime. "I'll give you a job if you give my nephew that job you have open" is a crime. As long as the job in question wasn't of the cushy "no-show" variety, NOTHING illegal or unethical happened.

P.S. The secretary of the navy was nominated a month before Specter switched parties, and confirmed a few weeks before Sestak officially began his campaign. The job Sestak spoke of may have been CONNECTED with the secretary of the navy's (such as the the #2 or #3 man), but is wasn't the secretary job itself.

18. As usual
Morning Jerk is full of shit. The real secret no one speaks of is Morning Jerk's ratings. His audience is really small. In having Morning Jerk, MSNBC can legitimately claim to be fair and balanced unlike Pox where fair and balanced means half lies, half truth, you figure out which is false.

29. Sestak was certainly not offered Secretary of the Navy.
It is unclear at best that the offer was illegal, whatever he was offered, and you are certainly correct that Bush did far more, and far worse, illegal things.
