Glenn Beck smears Obama's 11-year-old daughter

Glenn Beck, who repeatedly and angrily tells his alleged persecutors to "leave the families alone," spent a good chunk of his radio program this morning mocking and attacking the intelligence of President Obama's 11-year-old daughter, Malia.

Obama remarked yesterday during his press conference that Malia asked him of the Gulf oil spill: "Did you Plug The Hole Yet, Daddy?" Beck, taking off on this, mockingly affected Malia's voice, asking "Daddy" why he "hates black people so much." Then Beck attacked Malia's intelligence, saying: "That's the level of their education, that they're coming to - they're coming to daddy and saying 'Daddy, did you plug the hole yet?' "

This routine continued for several minutes, as Beck and his co-hosts touched on a variety of topics and laughed the entire time, all of it at the expense of an 11-year-old girl.

Weird bit I was reading in Jonathan Alter's book The Promise last night - according to Alter Rupert Murdoch was so impressed with Obama he was going to endorse Obama. Ailes threatened to walk away from Faux. Murdoch caved and gave McCain early endorsement, gave Ailes a 5 year contract, let Ailes take Faux even more in to RW looney land.

Wonder where the hell Alter got that bit of info.

Limbaugh did about the same thing to Chelsea Clinton when she was that age, in a routine on his defunct TV show where he talked about how everyone knew the White House Cat was Socks and then asked if they knew who the White House Dog was before putting up a picture of Chelsea. Of course, he tried to pass the blame onto an unnamed staffed, claiming he didn't know the staffer was going to put up her picture. Franken goes off on this in one of his books asking what the joke was supposed to be then. There's also a White House Dog... what's the actual punchline?

Anyway, everyone goes through an awkward stage in life, and Chelsea has turned out to be a stunning-looking woman. Malia's question is totally appropriate for her age and is no way indicative of any lack of education or low intelligence. In 12 to 13 years when Malia graduates with honors from a prestigious university, Beck will long have been a footnote in television history.

you watch and report about this jerk, the crazier he gets? It makes no sense to me that so much energy is spent on media creations like Beck, Palin, et al. He says something outrageous, and liberals go nuts. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.
